  2. Just a little more time on Time on Star Wars · · Score: 2

i have to say that is one of the better star wars articles I've read. It covered a large aspect of what the movie is going to contain. Of course, if these articles keep coming, I'll already know what's going on in the movie. I got to thinking "geez, that'll suck." Then I thought, no it wouldn't.

I think a comment I saw posted already about the CG characters not looking CG explain it. What of my biggest irritations is movies with CG special effects that you can TELL are done by a computer. (In my opinion that means the special effects are not special effects).

There are 250 shots of the 2200 that haven't been digitally produced or enhanced. I have a feeling this is going to be something worth getting on DVD.... without doubt. (of course, I wonder how many years until it is available on DVD)

Well... I can only think of one word, cool. Just the thought the PalmPilot acting as an emulator is well...cool.

I'm sure Nintendo will step in and say something, but I doubt will stop the movement. If there are enough people (as am I) interested in emulating the Gameboy on my pilot, then it will be done.

We just might have to stop from posting on Slashdot to keep attention low... :)

  6. Come home to daddy on Pre-Beta Slackware 4.0 · · Score: 5

I've been using slackware for what seems like forever now. Its almost gotten to a point where I can't remember a time NOT having Linux installed on my computer. If it wasn't for slackware's stubborn way of doing things (you know, not doing them for you) I would have never gotten this far with linux. I have installed RedHat on my Laptop, mostly to see why its so well liked... I do have to say, if you want POWER, and you want control, then slackware is your distro. To me, its the hacker's distribution. When I think of Linux, I think of Slackware.

If you want to USE your computer, and get things done, then Redhat is more suitable. RPM is nice when you just want to use something...

Call me crazy (go ahead, I think I am too) but I still enjoy the headaches of compling stuff on my own. I think going bald at 21 can be 75% contributed to Slackware, but its worth it.

If slackware never came out with another release, I'd still be happy with 3.6 (okay, if they would come out with a glibc2 first, then quit... i'd be REALLY happy).

Anyways, that my 2 shinny pennies (do you take credit cards) on Slackware.

  7. Just keep staroffice on MS Office on Linux (Continued) · · Score: 1

I know alot of people give StarOffice flak because it is a little slow and bloated....but how do you think Office would be?

I've only had star office die on me twice (I've been using it since 5.0 came out... I do 3 4-7page lab write ups each week) and both times it said "An unrecoverable error has occured. Your work has been saved, and will be reloaded when the program restarts."

Uh...and wouldn't you know it, both times I loaded the files without problems!

Now, I'd like to see Microsoft's Office do it.

In the line of what another poster said, if they port Office to Linux, I wonder what excuse people will have to not use linux.

I don't think everyone's understand the question, or at least I'm not. He asked what is the bandwidth of a nerve... I've seen almost all the replies so far answering how fast it is.

Although they are related, speed and bandwidth are not the same.

So which is it? Is the question the speed of which the nerve can carry information or the amount of information the nerve can carry?
