Just In Time delivery, the method Dell uses to order from their suppliers, is a savings. Sure Dell pays for it, but they pay a lot less for it then, say, HP pays in comparison. Go to a warehouse, see how it is for those that don't use a JIT inventory system. It's a proven system.
Now, tell me is this statement stemming from the fact that the hardware and software, are just so reliable that you rarely need to update, or the fact that a new Apple isn't more than few megahertz faster so why update?

Why not? If the airlines are really in such dire straits, which they are, then why not try to find a way to squeeze even more money out of each passenger. Even if I didn't have any business to do, I would still pay $30 to use one of their laptops, since I don't have my own, and be posting here on/. all the way to my destination. Flights are boring, and few have an inflight movie. Finally we have something to keep us busy besides Skymall magazines.
The public will pay to be entertained. Maybe the airlines aren't in business to entertain, but it doesn't mean they are stupid enough to pass up the opportunity to make more off their passengers.
Children...Microsoft is using a basic marketing strategy that all of us can understand. The general public will look at it much the same, but in a different light. If most of them don't have the experience that the average/. poster has, they're going to be looking for the "better" computer. Will it be Mac or a PC? The gimmick, though lame, will work to an extent.
Now, for those of you that use these articles, everytime, to proclaim that your dad can beat up my dad, or that your car is better than mine...Who Cares! You don't need to post that photoshop runs more efficiently on Macs. We know that. Most of us don't use photoshop so we don't care. Likewise you don't give a crap if my pc is 10xs faster than your Mac. That's not why you choose to use Macs. Why do we try to push one product on everyone that wasn't built to universally fit everyone. If you want to talk about why your OS rocks - Be specific about what you like, but not why it's better.

Is that because they are ignorant and have never been on a faster computer? I didn't think my 386 was slow at the time either. The OS might be worth it, but don't try to call a mac fast.
I'm not usually a mac basher, but it's just silly to try and say that Apples are better than ANYTHING else because of the way it handles pictures or photoshop. I don't use any kind of digital photography software or any kind of graphics development. Maybe macs would be better for me if I did, but I don't so speed and price are way more important. Don't try to generalize the advantages of macs. They may be great for you, but there's a reason for it. And there's a reason why it ISN'T for others...
