The Indian [call center] workers had master's degrees and had drive and ambition.

Where the hell are these call center workers?

Last week I was at a client's place. They had some piece of crap linksys broadband router. They obtained a block of routable IP addresses to use on their network for their ISP. I needed to disable NAT on the linksys box since it wasn't used anymore.

After hunting around the linksys router's web interface and not finding anything relevant, I called Linksys tech support. An Indian answered, of course. I told him what I was trying to do and then he put me on hold for several minutes. When he came back he told me that I could disable NAT by plugging the cable modem into any of the LAN ports on the router (along with the LAN equipment) rather than the WAN port.

After giving up on getting a remotely intellegent answer out of them, I found on the web that a firmware upgrade would do it. And the upgrade did provide a way to disable NAT. However if you disabled NAT, the device ceased to perform any kind of filtering. It was just a wide open router, no firewall at all.

Apparently the software on these linksys broadband routers are designed by the same caliber people who answer the phone support. I ended up putting together a linux machine to act as a router and firewall.

Well what are the many reasons? The only reasons put forth by the administration that I can find center on the current possesion & construction of WMDs and his history of using them, his human rights violations, and alleged associations with terrorists, and that the man is generally crazy and has been aggressive in the past. I've looked through most of Bush's speeches in early 2003 and that's about it.

Someone merely saying they want to dominate the world does not make them a threat to national security. First they would need things like an army comprised of men that won't surrender before the first shot is fired, and more than two WMDs would help too.

And whether or not Iraq was a threat isn't the point of this thread. The point is the Bush administration gave specific reasons and identified specific threats which have not been proven - namely connections to Al Quaeda and the WMDs.

There are other nations that are more of a threat to us than Iraq (North Korea) and there are plenty of other nations which are guilty of human rights violations... as the grandparent mentioned, of all the places on earth worthy of being "liberated", why Iraq?

And furthermore, most of Hussein's mass murders took place before or during the first gulf war. Knowing that and given that this was a big reason for that war too, why did we decide to leave him in power after that war?

I googled 2-3 trees to do some research and stumbled across a 2-3 tree in c++, with deletion implemented recursively no less. I translated it to java the day before it was due and handed it in. No, you didn't learn anything, except maybe how to translate an algorithm from C++ to JAva. You didn't learn the algorithm yourself, which is the whole point. I don't understand why you're wasting your time and money in college.

Who is Janes? I found the following article which contradicts what he/she is claiming, and claiming that the shells are pretty old:

The UNMOVIC official said the group needs to know more from the Bush administration before it's possible to determine if this is "old or new stuff. It is known that Iraq used sarin during the Iraq-Iran war, however.

Kimmitt said the shell belonged to a class of ordnance that Saddam's government said was destroyed before the 1991 Gulf war (search). Experts believe both the sarin and mustard gas weapons date back to that time.

The question was answered by the overwhelming number of Senators and House members two years ago.

Based on information taken on faith supplied by the Bush administration.

But judging from your use of "imminent threat" when the President expressed during his State of the Union that he would not wait till the threat was imminent is key to identifying the color of your commentary.

    http://www.moveon.org/censure/caughtonvideo/

They did wait until the threat was deemed imminent, or at least "immediate". I guess you could argue with me about the difference between "imminent" and "immediate".

Yes. Last year, America experienced the lowest number of terrorist attacks, home and abroad, in 20 years according to the State Department. Deposing Saddam Hussein has already born fruit.

How do you know that deposing Hussein is what decreased the number of terroist attacks, and not any of the other security measures put in place or actions taken after 9/11?

And at any rate, I'd imagine this figure changed a bit after the incident in Spain in March.
