    (I saw you corrected yourself on the mb/kb problem)...

    While the 6502 can only address 64KB of RAM, the Apple II uses pageswapping to use all of the 128KB (I've run 1088KB on Apple II Oasis as regular RAM, though...). The Atari didn't do that, though?

    I downloaded WinUAE today, and played with all three browsers. Voyager is a bit bloated, old, and ugly (try rendering Google, or ...shudder... Slashdot...). IBrowse is very fast, very old, and very ugly (try rendering ANYTHING...). AWeb-II is Opera fast and then some, wayyyy too old (seems like no JavaScript support), and about as ugly as IBrowse. I never tried the Amiga ports of Lynx, but the gui browsers were all shareware.

    Now it looks like the two paragraphs per "article page" are just used to keep the ads from bumping into each other.
    And the sad thing is, many pages have that very problem on Opera... Layered ads, text flowing into ads (and with a width of one word...), etc., etc.

    Hmm... Only two kids at my LD/BH school are at least semi-geeks, and one of them is me (I'm a full-blown geek). The other learned his lesson when he googled up some porn, and ended up getting google blocked for everyone. (I was PISSED, because it wasn't the end of the year yet, and nobody could do research without me telling them the Yahoo backdoor...)

    Palm licensed Palm OS to a company that made a cross between a Palm m100 and a TRS-80 m100. I believe the result was the $300 AlphaSmart Dana.

    What kind of mobo do those have?

    My HP 6535 (Cel466) has a Trigem Cognac board. The controller for everything (all ports, video, etc., etc.) is an Intel 82810. Sometimes the mouse just refuses to work (but it's recognized by the computer... - and it's not the mouse itself) under Windows 2000 (unless I have IIS running, which I found out when playing with it, deciding whether to plug it into my DSL... Under RedHat 8, both the KB and mouse die if the mouse is touched by the OS. SuSE LiveEval, however, works perfectly... Wonder what distro I'm using...

    Amen to that! When I was younger, I had an old Apple //c, and it MADE ME LEARN HOW THE FSCKING COMPUTER WORKS, rather than simply play the fscking games. Windows PCs today ARE dumbed down, but I still have ways of making them smart.

    (Hits the Windows key, then R, then types CMD, and hits Enter...)

    I didn't say they should back off. I said threatening someone with a 12,000 person legal staff is a good way to say f*** you. I also said it'd be tough for 2khappyware if they try to fight this. They could say f*** you in another legal way - continue fighting.

    But that doesn't mean I should be banned from rolling my own PPC on a boring beige case and purchasing OSX separately.

    If you're using Apple components off of eBay, that's perfectly legal. However, you can't roll your own BIOS, and then use OSX, because the EULA states that it can only be used on a genuine Apple BIOS. I agree, that is rather monopolistic, but IT'S PERFECTLY LEGAL. Personally, I think this is Apple's attempt to make up for their mistakes with the Laser 128 and 3000 series. They had succeeded in suing all of the companies making Apple II clones... except for VTech, because they developed their own.

    Yeah. That's IBM's revered 12,000 Lawyer Staff that's going to crush SCO. Of course, Apple's probably got a much larger legal staff than 2khappyware, so it's not going to go well for 2khw.

    It runs Palm OS on a Dragonball. Shouldn't be hard to modify BigClock or one of the other Palm OS clock apps to run on it.

    I know this is sarcastic, but here's a reason: It's on your wrist, and it's your watch, so you're more likely to keep it with you, and you don't have to lug^H^H^Hcarry a PDA around.

    They released it a year or two ago, along with a super-databank watch and a GPS watch that are also about the same price.
