absolutely perfect. I also wanted to add that OpenGL as far as what it can do graphics wise (bump mapping, vertex shaders, etc) are very far behind what DX is capable of.
One word, directx. I hate to say it but it rules the market and microsoft isn't going to be opening the source to that any time soon. Why on earth would developers waste the manpower to develop for such a niche market. I hate to play the devils advocate (I run gentoo as a desktop OS) but it's just not going to happen.
You need to get in with the right corp then. A 0.0 corp is where the action is at. Not to mention mining is the worst way to make isk in the game. Freaking go out and do some missions! L4 missions will bring in 20 to 30 mil per mission in loot + salvage. And that is all eclipsed when you do 0.0 ratting and complexes. and train your learning skills, weeks of training will be cut by half.
Have you been to best buy? the PC games section defeats all of the (individual) game ares for the consoles. PC gaming is far from dying. It seems like it has started to rebound. Command and Conquer three was developed for the PC then ported for consoles, bioshock is also being ported to the consoles. I think developers are starting to develop for the PC again, instead of these crap ports from console to PC. One more: stalker was also developed for the PC, and then ported to the consoles as well;)
The penny arcade expo seems to be taking over where E3 is leaving off. It's a place for gamers to come game, and for the publishers to connect with the gamers. I went last year and had a blast. I played at the LAN party, I watched a nintendo presentation, I did some table top gaming, and wandered around the exhibit hall. It was actually alot more entertaining then E3, because it's for the gamer, instead of trying to cater to both the press and the gamers.
"What I would really like to see, though, is a game that completely eliminates the classes/jobs and provides every skill a la carte"
They do, this game is called EVE-online!
Is that sure, you get to meet your guildmates etc. but it's going to get boring, I mean, all I ever talk to them about is the game, and if there is no game to play.... Lots of awkward silences. But thats just me, I should note I've never been to a con. Or played world of warcraft. Long live EVE.
That was so eloquently put, I just don't know what to say! However, I am rather glad that I deleted my myspace account. For one I was *shudder* actually starting to get obsessive about it, and two, well... it's friggin myspace. Good riddance.
I have never had any problems at all with the game in it's release form, or with the patch. I bet the machines that are having problems are the ones with the spyware, and other goodies on their systems. If people kept their windows installs patched and secure I bet they wouldn't have that problem:)
Actually, I'd have to say, the control scheme is quite nice considering the hardware. As far as the ability to customize sensetivity and button layout, I think it might be one of the better setups for a controller based console. (gotta be specific now with the wii mote)
There is a wonderful one out there, Eve online. There aren't levels perse, just new ships and skills you can add to your charecter to make things different. There are so many things you can do in that game it's staggering. PvP- be a bounty hunter or a pirate, be a trader, be a miner, scientist, you can make EVERY item in the game. It's truely a fun experence. As you get more skills, alot of time goes into skill development, but it happens when you are offline. you set a skill to train, and it'll take two weeks, but that's two weeks if you are playing or not. If anyone is interested, pm me and we'll go do some rat hunting:)
The whole reason behind the development for the PS1/one is because hardware was still being developed for it. When the PS2 came out, the PSone did as well. Same thing with the GBA, the GBA micro came out. This then dictates that more software should be developed. I am not saying that this is always the case, but for most cases, it's true.
I mean, would you really want to develop for a system that is now considered obsolete? The same thing happened to the Saturn when the dreamcast came out, n64 to gamecube. There might be a month of two of overlap, but thats the way the console market is run. We really shouldn't be surprised by this, in fact, this is common sense here.
Expand on games that already exist! For instance, all the cool stuff added to tetris DS, that could probably in one form or another be added to the cellphone version of it, use the known brand names to sell new products. You might get hit with a few fees for lisencing, but you'd probably market alot more that way. Don't go crazy tho, don't sell Pac Man Chess or anything like that. Also, keep the games simple, one of the best selling series of PC games are the simple shockwave games. If you try to make complex games for phones, no one will buy them. There are several big neat games for my ppc phone, but I stick to the card game suites, and puzzle games. I don't want to have to save my game every few minutes because I have to move, and then pick it up again.
My problem with using a linux box for a PVR is that it's VERY hard to get working with an HDTV. I still can't get it working at 720p or 1080i. Where as the MCE with the nvidia based drivers makes it easy to setup for a high def tv.

That statement sums it up perfectly. I own a Wii, DS, and 360. Linux for work, the other hardware for play!

How is this not front page news? I mean, this is amazing!

Simple solution... it's called S3 suspend...

I suppose thats true. I guess I wasn't thinking about that when I posted the parent :)

you sir are an idiot, you have no idea how anything works, and I hate you... I'll see you at poker this saturday right?
All we need is a pen and paper version to make the DnD crowd happy!

The fact that the two of you came up with the same joke at the same moment scares me.... offtopic mods? please?

He ment the articles below.... *slap*

Bleach is a violent japanese anime. :D
Due to a misunderstanding, massive ammounts of bleach have been pulled from store shelves due to a recent ban passed down from the tokyo police.
