Dunno, depends on the situation I guess? Obviously, you would only bring them in where it's actually worthwhile to have control over the enemy's systems or have them malfunctioning at will, not to destroy a launch site which could easily be destroyed with exlosives.

But IANAG (I Am Not A General).

Not true. If you're not a member of any church you don't have to pay church taxes. Which is also the reason why leaving the church is so popular in Germany. I guess if it weren't for the taxes, most people here wouldn't bother to declare themselves as Atheists.

And of course you can still have a Christian faith without being a church member.

Not that you can really appreciate good output quality in a noisy environment such as a car anyway...

In Germany, some universities can even revoke your PhD if you've commited a felony (unrelated to your PhD or any misuse of knowledge) and were sentenced to imprisonment of 1 year or longer. I always thought that was kind of bizarre.

For example, the RWTH Aachen does this. Here's the relevant text (Promotionsordnung der RWTH, see 19, "Verlust des Doktorgrades") Sorry, German only.

Nope. Actually, many people developing open source software do it BECAUSE they care for quality. They're trying to find the optimal solution for a problem, even if it takes some time. Compare that to someone working at a software company, constantly chased by deadlines and stupid bosses breathing down his neck. Now THAT is an environment which produces "I don't care" attitudes.

And since the original poster said that the open source software they use undergoes the same rigorous tests as the proprietary stuff, I really can't see a problem.
