Are you suggesting that Wikipedia censor the "uneducated" and "biased"? I hate to break it to you, but as much as you might wish it were untrue, you too are biased. As for uneducated, that term is relative. If you are not the absolute world's expert on your topic, you are in comparison uneducated to whoever occupies that position. The whole "one person, one vote" mentality is the bedrock of democracy, that each voice deserves to be heard, regardless of status (white, black, male, female, land-owners or otherwise, educated or illiterate.) That's what makes Wikipedia so great, it lets anyone edit. It's democracy at its best.
Um... ok. 1) Mass has nothing to do with a star's ability to collide. 2) the universe's expansion only effects entire galaxies over extremely long distances. Individual stars in galaxies are not affected by this. In fact, they are drawn towards each other as seen in binary+ systems. This is where colliding neutron stars comes from. We need a binary system where both stars are of sufficient size to go supernova and create two neutron stars. Now we have two neutron stars orbiting each other. While the following can be derived directly from Einstein's equations in a single college lecture, it's rather too complex to detail in a slashdot comment... essentially these two neutron stars spiral inward towards each other because with each orbit they loose enough orbital energy due to gravitational waves (energy given off by a gravitational wave is inversely proportional to orbital period and proportional to mass - or something like that) It turns out this energy is of an appreciable amount so that eventially these stars will collide in a reasonable amount of time. So yeah.
But the bad news is that the pendulum has a blade on its end, and is slowly but surely coming closer and closer to our collective body that is chained to the floor in a dark pit while ravenous rats tear away at our flesh. Poe had some incredible foresight, didn't he?
haha those "blueprints" are from lightwave, aren't they? In that case, I have blueprints for several deep-space capital ships, a few space fighters, and a couple of plasma guns.
As interstate commerce, they do have the power to regulate porn. Porn is a commercial product, and as such can be regulated, subsidised (hahaha), inspected (again, hahah), etc. However, porn is also free speech, so they cannot regulate the final product, only its production. They might very well require porn made in the US to require condoms, or regular AIDs and other STD testing among porn actors (I believe this is already done by the industry...?) But this FBI thing is a joke. At least, I thought it was until I saw they were actually serious.
The grandparent has a point though. A scalable SSTO (single stage to orbit) engine is a holy grail of sorts because it must provide lift in various situations while being near maximally efficient the whole time. Nasa (and everybody else) solved this by using multiple engines: liquid main engines, solid boosters for the shuttle). Now perhaps SC has found an engine that will get them to orbit, who knows, but it's a bigger problem than you might think. Fuel is an issue:
Fuels that are used in space must carry their own oxygen, but when going at high speeds in the earth's atmosphere, why not make like a jet engine and get oxygen from the atmosphere? Perhaps there could be two fuels, one for use in the atmosphere and one for use in space. The engine would start using one, then as pressure dropped would slowly switch to the other. But of course with an air intake that must work from zero to hypersonic speeds, you run into some pretty nasty physics in designing the thing. End result is you end up with a non-constant flow of oxygen to your engine, no matter how well you design your system. Thus the engine must be designed with this tolerance in mind.
Um, what? First a writer IS more important than a plumber who can't write. Plumb a man's pipes and he can shit until it gets clogged again. Teach a man to plumb, and he'll clean his own pipes for the rest of his life. Second, you are implying that musicians, writers and actors don't work for a living, and that you somehow prop up their useless lives. The reality is musicians, writers and actors are among the hardest working people in the world. Music, tv, movies and books are sometimes the only things people have to escape the drudgeries of life. You underrate the value of entertainment. As for copyrights and patents: don't blame the people who use these systems, because there is often no alternative, and in a dog-eat-dog world such as ours, if you don't patent your idea someone else will. Don't blame people who hold copyrights and patents, blame the government for their implementation.
Um, why? This is absolutely fabulous. There are no toxic materials in this setup (well, depending on what they use for the mirrors), compared to solar panels, it has a great energy density (and this is the first generation, too. It can only go up.) If the place is profitable, more will sprout up like crazy... throw in a few government subsidies, and we have green power, folks. This is the real thing.
If tomorrow there is a terrorist attack that the FBI failed to prevent because they were busy arresting some copyright violator, I'm going to be mighty pissed.
Even with bluffing, it's straight up probability. Given what you said, a poker bot will now have one parameter: it's "bluffing factor." This entire game is reduced to a calculus of variations problem.
So you are required to destroy documents unless you knowingly do so when there's about to be a federal investigation that will require those documents, in which case you can be sent to prison for destroying them? Sounds like a good reason not to use paper at all...
Hah! If you've ever performed, you'd know that there's absolutely NO thought process going on in the traditional sense. A lot of it is muscle memory, and the conscious mind is left to wonder. If you tapped into my brain when I'm playing the violin and hit record, you'd see "ok I'm gunna hold this note a little longer... hmm what's for dinner?" not "this finger goes down 1.324 mm in 0.3495 seconds, and I'm gunna do this EXACT thing with my bow arm."

Now the question is not whether Mars can support life, it is whether or not Mars could have supported its abiogenesis and subsequent evolution.

What's that thing in the top left hand corner of the second image? It doesn't fit with the rest of the landscape...

hahaha! And here I was thinking you were talking about this.

So, anyone trying this: good luck!
sure.

Don't blame me, blame the mods! I was trying to be funny... as you said, "witty bullshit."
No, the best troll would be if I then went out and committed a terrorist attack, came back to slashdot and said "see?!"
If tomorrow there is a terrorist attack that the FBI failed to prevent because they were busy arresting some copyright violator, I'm going to be mighty pissed.
Zzzzzzap!
It appears the spacecraft is still alive, but in a lower orbit than expected. Here is the article.

Shit, that scene STILL gives me nightmares, and I'm 18!
That'll be 3c in Akihabara.

All forests are not created equal. Old growth redwoods and ultra-dense rainforests cannot be equated to a forest that can grow between 1982 and 1997.
Either way, if I ever see an "intel inside" sticker on a mac, I'm gunna fucking puke.
