You are fighting uphill battle. When it comes to religion, Slashdot group thinking puts logic under some rock. In some other unrelated thread, GP would have been modded down into oblivion for shear ad hominem attacks. 100 years ago some Victorian people were just the way he goes on to describe "a group". But forget that, we need to wipe illiberal threats for long term stability.
For clarity, let me just say that right now, Islam is a problem.
Tell me now, when MS and Apple are sold because they are more user-friendly and point and click oriented, then they get to sit on shelves of every shop.
And when Asus touts about Linux being user-friendly and point and click oriented, then how come it is still MS sitting on the shelves?
There is no mocking of MS - they are the ones at gaining edge.
I am not against RAW images. I just think it is not very useful to have RAW images when you have a crappy camera in the first place, a camera which was not designed for RAW images.
BS. RAW images taken from CHDK don't contain high colorspace, there is no dynamic range - ergo RAW with point and shoot camera is of no use if you want to create HDR, or play with white-balance without fudging it in reality.
I can give that JPEG artifacts are not there - but most of times such an option is already present in the camera. RAW with CHDK is a toy to play with, and no body can use it for any serious purpose.
I tried it with my S2 IS. They really do a good job at maintaining the "soft" firmware.
Although, for RAW images, cheap point and shoot cameras don't have physical build, and lack everything that makes RAW images special. Taking RAW images with my camera was akin to storing 1 MB JPEG image into 3 MB RAW format.
How old are you actually? Slackware discontinued Floppy support a long time ago!
<quote from http://www.slackbook.org/html/installation-requirements.html#INSTALLATION-METHODS%25gt; While it was once possible to install all of Slackware Linux from floppy disks, the increasing size of software packages (indeed, of some individual programs) has forced the abandonment of the floppy install. As late as Slackware version 7.1 a partial install was possible using floppy disks. The A and N series could be nearly entirely installed, providing a base system from which to install the rest of the distribution. If you are considering a floppy install (typically on older hardware), it is typically recommended to find another way, or use an older release. Slackware 4.0 is still very popular for this reason, as is 7.0.
The website is not updated. If you actually read through the book [1], you will realize that it needs CD drive, and Floppy installation support was discontinued really really long time ago (when it was at version 7).[2]
747 and a vending machine don't share a common technology, if they do, and you know how to make a 747, I really don't see a R&D problem in creating a vending machine. Note: I am not talking about manufacturing/designing problems! Just technological.
In case of Diebold, they want money for making something "more secure" (which actually, is just "secure"), while they already have that technology. May be "downgrade" is not the right word, but still I don't see why they would need more money to do something relatively simpler than what they already know.
That is not even a question. Premier/Diebold is playing the most common trick there is: we can do better job but we need more money. Pony up some more so we can actually deliver what we promised to.
Once they have high-tech for ATM, all they need to do is downgrade it into a workable trustful voting machine - they don't have to do much R&D for that! The whole China is doing it... so can they.
Forget about recycling. Most of the trash that is separated is incinerated. No incineration plant can be "just dumped with" whatever garbage you have, since incineration leads to a lot of harmful wastes and slag which is mostly hazardous.
If you send it landfill, it becomes a much bigger problem if you have not separated, with landfill gas and all. All in all, GP was quite wrong.
But I must say, recycling is way over hyped. Our separation technologies are just not good enough to successfully create anything useful. There are pilot plants all over the world (at least developed part of it) and they are not self-sustainable. Especially in USA, landfill is and has been a preferred choice because of availability of vast lands. Compared to Europe, you will meet stronger limits, and incineration becomes the most important way to deal with waste.
The only facet of recycling which is feasible is processing bio waste - not because it is profitable or sustainable, but because bio waste doesn't have good energy value for incineration, and is a PITA for landfill.
In all this controversy, where are the opinions of Tibetans? It has been either painted as "West" or "Chinese".
Read the wikipedia talk page - anyone on them related to the torch relay. Coming from nationalist family myself I can totally understand the knee jerk reaction from a Chinese - but it still baffles me that in this whole show, Tibetans are not even involved.

They are offering $5000 to have sex with them and have it recorded.
Anyway, I have reinstalled CHDK again. Video compression is good enough reason :)

I will just add a link to "Loadlin", a tool which boots Linux from DOS using similar technique.
It is how the old viruses used to work on DOS - loading into memory and then overtaking COMMAND.COM

Thanks for saying that. :)
Just shows that even moderators have not RTFA
The article is from Times of India - the tabloid of India - the Fox News - the Bild.
They are known for crapifying everything. They even plagiarized Wikipedia for sports section!
You will make me read technology related news on ToI when you pry my eyes from my cold, dead body.
The good thing would have been to not go into Iraq. Wait, is this youtube?
This thing is just another trump card in hands of buffoons.
Strange, I don't see anything personal or anything insulting. Was it one of those ad hominems?
Wait, wait! I back off!
That is what I meant. They will save a soldier's life. Not of those who are against the soldiers.
Yeah, right!

It is not feasible, since plants rot (aerobic and anaerobic) - and create a lot of unpleasant gases.
You might want to see "Landfill" and "Mechanical Biological Treatment" on Wikipedia.

Wow! I fucked up after mandatory preview.
I would say they already had a strong Chinese nationalism, and they are being able to channel it now.
