    As someone without always on internet, currently planning a trip, I hear you. I'm currently trimming down my Ipod memory, whereas if I had a few SDs i could pop in, it wouldn't be an issue.
    But I'm old, and the whole needing to be constantly connected offends me a bit. Especially with aps and things that decidedly don't work offline.

    But you're not getting it. She's ignoring the warnings BECAUSE she's been conditioned to. Even "dumb" people get conditioned to this.
    Using an obviously ill stated car analogy: If your warning light on the car was broken, and every time you started it it came on, but your mechanic told you it was just a faulty warning light, you'd ignore it. You're busy, and it would cost too much to fix.
    Then another one does the same, and you check on it, and the mechanic tell's you again to ignore, or pay 2000 to fix it.
    And one day, a light comes on, you ignore it, and the engine explodes.

    Why should rape be modulated by someone's personal definition?
    For example, I may think rape only involves me not paying the other person. So as long as I give them money afterwards, we're A-OK?
    Does my subjective definition have any bearing on the matter?

    I'm American, and I check manufacturing location and factor that into decisions when purchasing.
    My order of preference is:
    1) US/Canada
    2) Europe
    3) Mexico
    4) everyone else except
    5) China.

    See that? US/Canada. Sheesh!

    I have no problem with this viewpoint. However, when things do happen ( getting run over by a bus, for example) the people making this decision usually then change their mind and ask for assistance. This is the problem: there's no repercussions.
    And yes, I have relatives who have done this ( not the bus part though, just the getting help)

    Perhaps you're seeing racism where you want to? It's easier to trot out the racist bogeyman than actually make a point.
    However, if I understand you correctly:
    People who never voted for Obama=racist.
    People who voted for Obama, but won't vote for him next time =racist
    People who will always vote for Obama= non racists

    If you believe that, you're naive. Or partisan. Or partisanly naive.
    Essentially, things work better when "opposing" sides control different branches.
