As someone without always on internet, currently planning a trip, I hear you. I'm currently trimming down my Ipod memory, whereas if I had a few SDs i could pop in, it wouldn't be an issue. But I'm old, and the whole needing to be constantly connected offends me a bit. Especially with aps and things that decidedly don't work offline.
But every political leaning does this, postulating that if only their ideology was carried out to the end, everything would be OK. You see conservatives, liberals, and every strip of the political spectrum ranting on about this constantly.
Um, I don't know where you come from, but here's it's completely and utterly politically correct to point out uncomfortable things about my own country, the US.
That's so wrong as to be the King of wrongness. The assumption that morality is somehow inherent is as silly as assuming that reading is an innate trait.
But you're not getting it. She's ignoring the warnings BECAUSE she's been conditioned to. Even "dumb" people get conditioned to this. Using an obviously ill stated car analogy: If your warning light on the car was broken, and every time you started it it came on, but your mechanic told you it was just a faulty warning light, you'd ignore it. You're busy, and it would cost too much to fix. Then another one does the same, and you check on it, and the mechanic tell's you again to ignore, or pay 2000 to fix it. And one day, a light comes on, you ignore it, and the engine explodes.
People dislike the UN because they are ineffective and unable to do anything without debating until EVERYONE agrees on something. Which is also why the UN is allowed to exist at all.
Haier makes junk. I remember living in Thailand, having Haier products, and thinking: "Damn, I'm glad we don't have these back in the US". Well, I guess we do now.
Why should rape be modulated by someone's personal definition? For example, I may think rape only involves me not paying the other person. So as long as I give them money afterwards, we're A-OK? Does my subjective definition have any bearing on the matter?
WTF are you talking about? I'm American, and I check manufacturing location and factor that into decisions when purchasing. My order of preference is: 1) US/Canada 2) Europe 3) Mexico 4) everyone else except 5) China.
I have no problem with this viewpoint. However, when things do happen ( getting run over by a bus, for example) the people making this decision usually then change their mind and ask for assistance. This is the problem: there's no repercussions. And yes, I have relatives who have done this ( not the bus part though, just the getting help)
Parent didn't mention race. But you did. Perhaps you're seeing racism where you want to? It's easier to trot out the racist bogeyman than actually make a point. However, if I understand you correctly: People who never voted for Obama=racist. People who voted for Obama, but won't vote for him next time =racist People who will always vote for Obama= non racists
Don't pretend like both sides of the aisle don't play the same game. If you believe that, you're naive. Or partisan. Or partisanly naive. Essentially, things work better when "opposing" sides control different branches.
Your username is couchslug. This is an entirely appropriate response. If your username was "drivingtoshop", then I'd expect the opposite.
Until amazon institutes their own delivery service.
or, possibly, at work, where the WiFi is available, but heavily monitored and restricted.

I remember reading this article on the subject:

You know what, I kinda like this idea...

*clap clap cap* This.
I vote Giant Douchbag, as the fact that it's giant adds a level of satire.

iSee what you did there! :)
I've known multiple people who lived in the USSR and you, sir, are an ass.
Though I guess since both countries have done bad things, they are equal.

See that? US/Canada. Sheesh!
Because we're not rich anymore.

however, in this case, it's a tax for NOT doing something. Big difference.
