In the last two days we've had microsoft releasing support for running virtual OSes like Linux and Apple releasing support for dual booting windows. So now, you could run a virtual linux server, through windows running natively, on a mac -- with the 'blessings' of both Apple and Microsoft.
I know it's obvious but seeing it like in print like this is still pretty incredible.
"When bidders reach their maximum bids, they get an automated e-mail confirmation that they're the highest bidder. But it includes the warning, 'Important: You are one bid away from being outbid. If another user places a bid, you will not win. To increase your chances of winning, enter your highest maximum bid.' "
They aren't pretending anything, they are advising you of the current situtaion
Yes I'm replying to myself. From the other article posted "Said Kathrein, "Essentially, they're saying, 'even though we don't tell you this, when you place that next highest bid, we'll put it a full increment above the bid behind you.'"
For example, if that person with the $100 bid accepted the invitation to raise his maximum, the system in some cases would immediately raise the bid to $102.50 -- even if no one else had bid in the meantime. "
The email is a warning, if you elect to raise your bid following the warning that you are at your max, your bid must be raised by the minimum increment. It does not automatically increase your bid past your preset maximum unless you increase your maximum.
From the article:
"EBay automatically increases bids only when the maximum has been hit and when the prior top bid was between bidding increments. For example, bidding increments on items priced between $100 and $249.99 is $2.50. Block, however, raised his bid increment by $1.50."
therefore his bid increment would not be enough to secure the item.
that more books will be more accessible and possibly free. If he wants more French literature to be available either start a company to do this or make it more interesting to Google. Does he point out that French universities were jumping at the bit to have Google do work at their libraries? Sounds like a lot of lot of pointless bitching to me.
It's just factored into the prices. Panera is good but pretty pricey. I doubt they would let someone who doesn't order anything just sit in their and use the internet for a prolonged period of time. It's a resturant, not a coffee shop.
It's the internet, you can tell us how you really feel. No need to sugarcoat things.

and federally regulated break time is given, an employer can restrict whatever non-workrelated activities they wish. Especially those carried about using company equipment.
Why is this any different than any other software that could be used for the same purpose and are even more invisible to the user. If the machines are not secure (i.e. the local login allows for software installation/ admin rights) then anything can be put on the machine including much more malicious monitoring software. So why are they going after Google? Blame the IT staff if they install this in such an enviornment or if they leave the machines open, don't blame Google. If someone googled "Make a bomb" on the web and used the search engine as in aid in breaking the law would anyone come after google for its search results?
The ability to check my MSN mail in Outlook is one of the last remaining reasons I have for holding unto that account and not switching to gmail as my primary-secondary email (ha!). I wonder how many other people are in the same boat as me.
Wouldn't it be even harder to get a person's identity from their email address then from just their IP? Now the RIAA would have to contact Yahoo, get all the IPs that were logged with that email address, and then contact all of the connected ISPs.
Or is this really just an attempt to spam file sharers?
While I do think the differences are noticable, I am still extremely impressed with how the game looks at a 640 X 480 resolution.
The point being that the game looks great no matter what you have provided you can run it. Still, my ATI AIW 9600 can pull off about 30 FPS in medium at 800 X 600. I bought it last November for more than these cards will cost so their price/performance ratio is awesome.
clearly, if the person is no longer a college student, he/she will be less likely to pirate music. Brillant.

You're comment is funny but this would be like not driving on their roads instead of measuring just your speed differently.
Standardization actually helps fulfill the goals you have mentioned.

Using this technique I was able to crack my "radio" too.
I always wanted a Mac but they were so damn ugly. If only mac minis had been designed to look like e-machines. Today truly is a great day.
put weight behind Linux? Maybe Apple goes that route instead of using Darwin.

implement targeted commericals? Still, it would be better than seeing tampon and herpes medication ads (for me at least).
and go to jail for nine years. Drive a car drunk, sell crack, or commit rape and serve far less (or even any) time. I love this country.
This is sensationalist media reporting.
google would create a file system and get into the operating system business?

I know that we all feel a little joy when we hear that spammers have been arrested and the same can now happen to spyware authors.
Now you will get spammed to buy gigli on DVD. Finally the MPAA will be able to help me locate quality films.
