    I agree with Mr. Perens. If UNIX trademark becomes generic, some Joe Blow can create any old OS and call it UNIX. How would you feel if you bought such an OS to find out that it's really based on Windows NT kernel?

    Last time I checked, employers are human, even if they don't act like one. Besides, if you don't like the way your employer treats you, open your own business and be your won boss or quit bitching.

    And how is this different from how employees treated employers during the economic boom? Employees demanded unheard benifits and jumped ship as soon as they found another job that pays more. Now that the table has turned, they whine.

    I agree with you(ektor) 100%. It only costs $50 to start a corporation in Colorado. It may cost more or less in other states but not by much.

    If that's the case, start a corporation with the motto "Our first priority is kindler and gentler American workplace and society, not profits."

    Since you(not ektor) believe that most of the Americans have same belief as you do, you shouldn't have problems finding investors. And even if your product costs more than your less friendly competitor, you can bet that the people will choose your product because most of them believes in your corporation's motto. I hereby put my Foolproof Idealist Business Plan(TM) on public domain so you don't have to pay me a cent if you become million/billionaire from it.

    At first, Verizon was protecting the rights of the consumers by fighting RIAA but now they are going against the consumers by fighting a law backed my congress that was against the consumers by helping RIAA expect recently introduced a bill by a senator to help the consumers...

    Management (or at lease elect board members) can be hired by the workers if the workers have enough shares of the company but that didn't work out too well for United Airlines.

    Because I always end up providing tech support for my co-workers for stuff they bought for home use. They first all the manufacturer's tech support line, which is handled by someone with heavy Indian accent. They have hard time understanding my co-workers and my co-workers have hard time understanding them due to their heavy accent.

    One of my fellow soldiers in Army Reserves is a manager for a subsidized apartment complex. He told me that the most of residents there are druggies (and not the types that are trying to quit). Now I don't mind helping people who are in bad situation through no fault of their own but I do have problems with subsidizing drug use. If we cut off funding to those fuck ups, we should be able to provide more aid to the truly needy without having to pay higher taxes.
