When you can spontaneously create life from raw materials, in a lab, let me know and I'll believe you, until then I'll keep up with my current belief system.
When a man who died 2012 years ago spontaneously springs back to life, let me know and I'll believe. When you can provide *proof*, using scientific methods (you are a scientist aren't you?), that the earth is 6,000 odd years old, let me know and I'll believe.
Until then, I'll keep up with my current lack of belief...
2000 lines?! I've inherited codebases of 250k+ LOC (Visual J++), and there were numerous single methods that would dwarf that 2000 lines! I know that claim is sort of the new millenium's version of my grandfathers claim of "walking 64 furlongs to school with only 1 shoe in 16 inches of snow because he couldn't afford the 2 and thripence yearly fee for a bus pass", but being thrown into the deep-end of a 250k line project is not unusual. If you get one with documentation, its like winning a small lottery. If you get one with up-to-date and informative documentation, then, well, do they exist?
I find that stepping through the code and trying to understand it is psycholigally damaging. You end up just wanting to hurt the person who wrote it. But as everyone else has said, its probably the best idea and the only way to achieve your goal.
Your 4th comment in this thread and you still sound like a condecending asshole. If you claim to be a professional, how about you act like one and explain your opinions instead of prancing around acting like you're holier-than-thou.
Yes, Australian's are focused on winning at sport.
I've lived in Europe and America too, where the focus seems to be on money, advertising, having affairs, more money, product endorsements and getting drunk and going home to beat the missus when you lose (ok, last point may be more for English football nut jobs). It's just not cricket.
Having moved from Australia to England, I concur with you. People in Australia are generally more well informed. I don't think it's a people issue though, it's the media. I usually have to resort to reading the Sydney Morning Herald to find out whats going on in the world, and in some cases London itself (eg/ 7/7 London bombings).
"A nice dose of 220 through your hand will teach you more about electricity then any classroom lecture."
I totally agree. When I was 16 I copped 240volts from a live wire I was playing around with. It was a bit of a shocker, but it sparked some enthusiasm in learning more about electricity, and how to avoid that happening again. Luckily there were quite a few other things plugged in to the same power-point, thus draining a lot of the current.
"Summertime we played in the local "river" all the time. Kids where I live now? There is a fence around the pond(?) because some kid might fall in"
I think this is right on the money too. I believe its also the root of the worldwide litigation culture thats come about. Greedy and over-protective parents sueing whoever they can because of their own lack of responsibility. This only teaches kids that they can be rewarded for their stupidity, not that they should learn from their mistakes.

It's not beyond the realms of science...

Anyway, that's my 1.274p worth...

Hopefully there will be less of them...
aka December 2006
Woohoo, Vista is here! It must be 2003 already! Oh wait...

Let me guess... You're a kiwi?

Perhaps he means a "dog's breakfast"? Although to me a dog's breakfast would be slightly more appealing than it's bollocks.

I'm not religious, but Einstein was, and credit where credit's due, he was kinda smart in Science. At least enough to qualify as a "real" scientist...
The XBox is a cheap hardware platform, and pirated XBox games don't exist...
