    I'd rather have 5 different devices which worked well.

    Professionals still swap lenses because lenses are expensive and it's sometimes cheaper to replace a camera than a new lens. I've never had my camera lose more than a second over the 5-6 months that I sync it.

    I have a kick ass GPS tracker that logs every 1+ second (Q-1000x). A portable drive that dumped every CF card to mirrored drive so you could keep shooting. Toss in a wireless card and make it upload too. If I wanted video, I'd get a video camera.

    I really didn't see anything 'revolutionary' about those videos other than it did live HDR pictures. Woohoo. I have Photoshop. I'm sure GIMP can do it, etc.

    And you're not going to get a good OSS camera for cheap because of economies of scale. It'd cost a ton to make 1 small injection molded case, one circuit board, etc.

    Why not Debian? I know Ubuntu is built on top of Debian, but Ubuntu, to me seems to be the XP, Run on i386, look pretty and be easy to setup version of Debian that doesn't seem like it'd be suited for a Kindle.

    Especially some of the emdebian stuff 'designed' for routers and other tiny appliances.

    And that cocktail is getting better.

    When my dad had CLL and then came out of remission and had to get treatment again he said the difference between the 1st treatment and the second was night and day, even though it was only 3-4 years difference.

    Things are improving.

    In addition to VDPAU enabled mplayer, I can actually FIND CUDA enabled apps. There's CUDA enabled md5 crackers, cuda enabled BOINC, Matlab has a CUDA plugin. I'm considering buying CUDA compatible card so I can install it at work just to play with it in Matlab.

    Only other similar program I've seen is http://www.rpischeduler.com/, which is ok, but near impossible to set up. I did get it working once upon a time.

    aircrack is the base package that would most probably implement this.

    Almost anything written well for 'Linux' that runs on *BSD or Solaris, can be compiled for OS X.

    I just got into GeoTagging my photos. There are 3-4 GUI programs which 'Just Work'. In addition to exiftool and gpsbabel which are can be run from the command line plus BT747 which is OSS but Java. And most of the stuff I can install with MacPorts so everything is managed.

    TrailRunner is a VERY well made piece of freeware.

    Search both for 'Free' and there are quite a bit of good apps.

    I paid for TextMate because it's one of the best programs I've used. Same with Graphic Converter.

    DVR, is that like an Torrents, NZBs and an HTPC?

    After getting that of which we do not speak I'm never going back to torrents. I can Max out my Cable connection have a 30 minute show in a few minutes, an hour show in twice that.

    HellaNZB is... just wow.

    It's not use friendly yet but I like it better than XBMC.

    In addition to Undercover on my Mac, I've made some home rolled solutions.
    1) Installed AutoSSH and set it up ssh back to a Virtual Machine (sandboxed) on my home server. Also helps if I leave my machine on somewhere safe but forget (or aren't able) to forward ports. It has a reverse port forward to the ssh server on my Mac. Meaning anytime I can get to my home server and so can my Mac, I can get to my Mac.
    autossh -M 9005 -D 1080 -R 2222:127.0.0.1:22 www.example.org
    2) Another LaunchD (cron) process that curls a simple URL through the ssh socks proxy (ssh -D) that is a simple 1 or 0. (1 Stolen, 0 Not-Stolen). If it sees that it is stolen it'll just start taking pictures with the iSight (iSightCapture) and the desktop (screencapture) and uploading them to my host through scp. Literally in a while loop so as soon as it gets one photo, it gets another, and another, and another, etc...
    3) I have logKext, a password keylogger, installed. Every hour (keyLog-00h.log) and then once per day (keyLog-20090824.log) it uploads a copy of the encrypted log to my host. If anyone steals my laptop and uses it to type anything personal (e-mail, passwords, phone numbers) I'll immediately get

    Most thieves aren't what you see in Oceans 11 after all your money, they're low income thieves. When someone broke into my car and stole my wallet, both credit cards were immediately used at 2 Walmarts 10 minutes in either direction for $300-$500 repeatedly until I called to cancel. They're not going to wipe the drive, do an EFI wipe to ensure there are no 'bios' keyloggers.

    I wouldn't be surprised if the first thing a thief around here did was check his or her facebook and myspace page and then send an e-mail to his or her friends using a hotmail account.

    USA has the highest rate of incarcerated people per capita of any country other than possibly China. (who doesn't release stats like that)

    The second something as popular as google, you tube or facebook implements video and leaves no other alternatives is the day that Microsoft will wake up and implement the video tag or be left in the dust.

    Only if you explicitly say "Google Checkout", I put in my auctions That I DO NOT accept paypal but have 'my own' credit card processor. Of course all I do is send them a Google Checkout invoice via e-mail and they pay it.

    I'm sure if I started selling to someone that worked for paypal/ebay I might get caught but 99.9% of people out there don't give a damn.
