It should be easy for Apple to jump ahead by the possible use of Mac OS X 10.3 on Intelx86/Itanium/AMD chips.
Especially since Microsoft's monolith of an OS has no chance of working in a 64-bit environment. Someone mentioned they would have a working version of Windoze for 64-bit around 2008, so Apple really has a wide opening here, a place to get EVERYONE with a computer running their superior products (hardware and software).
Looking forward to it.

ok.. so Filter's arrangement/cover/mix of the Crystal Method's "Trip Like I Do" isn't credited to Filter? Being one of the most innovative music technologists in industrial rock, Richard Patrick deserves more respect.
As well, borrowing the "Armageddon" (akpth!) theme by Hanz Zimmerman? I'll leave that one with you to ponder.

Where do you get the idea that most of today's macs don't have PCI slots? I have 4 on my G4 tower, and have always thought about the possibility of getting one of the old "PC" cards for running stuff natively for testing.
Inter CPU in Firewire box is a decent idea, however..
Of all the online music providers, this should be a greater success.
My reasons for being reluctant for this technology to become commonplace mainly center around the specifications for the audio file's quality, and its ability to be backed up. All of the current online providers only offer MP3, WMA (shudder) and Real, none of which offer anywhere near acceptable listening quality for me to pay for. (any of these formats is acceptable for preview purposes)
In this respect, using AAC sounds like a great idea, and although AAC files can be DRM-enabled, Apple has required that every song have the ability to be burnt to CD (which effectively eliminates the DRM).
A dollar a song is still somewhat expensive, but again, as with everything Apple, you pay for quality. Hopefully the catalog selection is decent, otherwise it is doomed to fail under the weight of the crap pop that's out there now.. Out of print stuff would be ideal:)
Liner notes (perhaps in PDF) will hopefully be offered as well.
It's a bold move by Apple, one that will be interesting to follow.
I can see your point, I guess my opinion came off a bit harsh.. oh well. Aleister Crowley was an interesting man, his "Diary of a Drug Fiend" was a decent book.
Jimmy Page was a ripoff artist, not a single original idea in his head.
Zeppelin sucked, with the exception of John Paul Jones, whose talent was extraordinary. Jmmy Page and Robert Plant did nothing but bring music down and lower the bar for good loud music.
Fans of Page, who is/was unable to hit the notes that should be hit at the right times, will chalk this crap playing up to "artistic licence" or his being "a loose player".. I'm sick of hearing this, he was a SLOPPY player and didn't deserve the experiences he's had.
As Mindless Self Indulgence says, I Hate Jimmy Page.
It should be easy for Apple to jump ahead by the possible use of Mac OS X 10.3 on Intelx86/Itanium/AMD chips.
