You obviously didn't bother to check out what happened.
Some guy linked to the entire service manual, hosted on his own site. This isn't over the one image that is still there, it's over the PDF that was removed some time ago.
Read this page on SA to see the second notice, sent directly to the guy who was hosting it.
But really, with a UID that low you should know better. Try to make sure you have the facts before you get all excited and post something that ends up having no bearing on the discussion at hand.
One picture from the manual to be used in an example should be no problem, but sharing the entire thing? That's crazy, those manuals are given out to service techs. This guy is not an Apple-authorized service tech, and neither are the lot of us posting here, no matter how strongly we feel about the sharing of information.
You need a service account with Apple - GSX, the Global Service Exchange - to get these manuals. They're not the same manuals that come with a Mac when you buy it.
I'm somewhat disappointed in SA for allowing the PDF to be linked to.
None of this discounts the issue at hand with the thermal paste, but it does give Apple a valid reason to go after them.
Canada has been doing a lot better than the US in terms of taking care of its citizens with Health Care.
Think what you want, but I wouldn't be able to afford any doctor at all if something happened to me. I wouldn't want to be screwed like I would if I was an american.
I hope you find that it was worth it, placing your work in such high priority, once you reach the end of your life. For me, my day job is the last thing on my mind when I'm not there.
If you have no experience of developing on a Mac, why do you feel the need to comment on it?
I don't know if the gp has experience on Macs, but this has been a problem for many years, and I don't see it going away. People will make comments on things they know nothing about any chance they get, either to spread FUD, or simply because they like the sound of their own voice (or text equivalent). Hence entire companies will believe whatever their clueless IT dept tells them when it comes to Macs.
Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Appearance -> Appearance drop-down menu: Blue
Change Blue to Graphite. Much cleaner and easier on the eyes when the interface loses the candy colours and uses greys. It makes a big difference for me.

The Palm support (I'm using Mark/Space's Missing Sync) is what I was wondering as well. Hopefully it wouldn't screw with custom fields and/or categories.

Nice, you can subscribe to your calendar in iCal, and it imports iCal files. Doesn't seem to have a limit on the number of calendars you can have at once, but I may just be overlooking something.
Hope it works in Safari soon. It doesn't even load unless I use Firefox.
All the responses seem to want you to change your settings for the download manager. I have had the same issues and just out of frustration usually end up back in Safari or Opera.
I ask, why is this necessary? Safari takes no performance hit when its download window is full of stuff, why does Firefox?
Seems like the question is being avoided. Don't tell me how to get rid of my download items automatically. I want to see what I've downloaded in the past, but I don't want to wait for twenty seconds every time I click a download link. Is there any way to do this with Firefox?
I would say two years late is a failure. The fact that there isn't a useable beta yet means it has a ways to go before it's ready, so it could be even longer. You really want to wait for what seems like a sad attempt at playing catch-up?
My 5300cs still works fine, I use it to sync my Newton until I get a USB-serial adapter to sync it in OS X. It never needed the logic board replacement, thankfully.
Considering getting one of the second rev MBP machines.
Also looking forward to seeing the new Mac Pro. I really hope it's a different case design than the G5. I need more space for hard drives, and another optical slot would sure be nice. The last generation G4 towers were the best designed as far as expansion goes, I may end up getting one of those if the new Mac Pro disappoints.
Still at least they did it without riding on the coattails of a monopoly.
No, they did it by selling the rights to all the music they wrote, as well as riding on the coattails of a monopoly. Said monopoly is the recording industry, of which Apple Computers is not a part of. They sell music like a record store sells music. They're not the publishers.
Apple seems to want to help artists somewhat, as evidenced by Apple's battle for less restrictive DRM for the iTMS and independent artists getting a much larger cut of their sales. The RIAA-backed bands like Fall Out Boy and The Killers get very little, as that is what their labels wanted and fought for.
Very solid, been with them for about 4 years with 9 domains. Not as cheap, but that doesn't matter if the service is better. They do.ca registrations as well, but I use them for everything.
I'm going to move my remaining 4 domains off GoDaddy as well and over to domainsatcost. Big business needs to realize that associating itself with MS or Windows is a bad thing.
Haha, I know, eh. What a maroon.
I especially liked the part about using a piece of spyware's own uninstaller and trusting it to do what it says. Wow.
Many bosses don't understand this.
I was laid off for not being a cog.
I don't get it. So if I belong to a LUG then I'm a Linux astroturfer? He doesn't get any money from Apple.
Oh, I see from the correcting comments. I'm a Linux shill, or stooge.
Well, that just sounds like trying to discredit someone for no reason.
The single reprinted image is not the problem.
Look at the top of the guy's post. The entire service manual PDF was linked to, hosted on his own site. The file has been removed, as Apple requested.
Mod parent down, they're spewing misinformation.

Did you read the forum post? They posted the actual service manual, linked from a source other than Apple. The whole confidential PDF.
Verbatim from the forum, right at the top: Apple service manual for 15.4" MacBook Pro - URL changed to help save bandwidth.

Try using a Palm stylus. I grabbed one off a friend, it works way better than the included stylus. Might help you.

Seems he doesn't want to debate, he simply wants to defend someone who doesn't need it or deserve it.
That's a load of crap. That should never happen. Fuck business interests.
Every domain I've searched for through my provider has been available indefinitely afterwards. That's proper operation.
Get a better registrar. GoDaddy is just bad news.

We switched to Mac OSX for 12 months & really liked the system but noticed some hassles with drivers & applications.
Like what?

Hear, hear. Well said. I would expect most people on here would have that kind of courtesy, but I don't see it often in day-to-day activities.

Most artists, upon signing with a record label, do so knowing full well they are paying back a loan, until the label says it's paid.
Come on, any artist signing a new deal with a major label these days is just stupid.

Seems like no-one's mentioned - you can still get there from the old link, at

Which is good. It's shorter, anyway.
Wow, it's really hard to come up with a cohesive thought from that post.
Umm.. did you ever think maybe food isn't something that can be made more cheaply? They were talking about Levi jeans.
