I have to agree - this sounds like a framing.

Yahoo! has the story of his arrest.

They say that he renamed and also embedded into some of the files his online alias, T33kids.

Now why would anybody intelligent enough to try modifying a worm be so dumb as to put up signs saying "I did it!! It was me...Jeffrey Lee Parson, 18, of Hopkins, Minnesota who is 6'4" tall and weighs 320lbs"??

And why did Yahoo! think that his height and weight were relevant?

So it's probably only a plan to monitor CO2 emmisions or something like that...

If it was true, there are, of course, some blatantly obvious questions:

    - How do they know exactly WHO was driving at the time of the incident? (and how could they prove it?)

    - How would it know the bounds of a bus lane (expensive infrastructure change to put any technology in the bus lanes)?

    - If they're worried about speeding, why not regulate the vehicle to the posted speed limit?

    - Wouldn't that be discriminatory? Because people bringing their vehicles from abroad wouldn't have those sensors?

I have to say, I agree with Kien. Not to p!ss off Ergo, but for Kiens principles.

Ergo does have a point, but does not argue it in the best way (Sorry Ergo). IMHO, I think that most software/music/movie companies realize that they can't beat the real pirates (aka the best virus developers work for the best anti-virus compaines), but will try to stop the grass roots (Joe Public) copying. Of course, once the crackers develop a good crack, and it becomes distributed, then these companies will try to stop THAT method. And so the game develops - just like car crime and car security companies...

I do, also, totally agree with Kien on his rejection of Intellectual Property. Especially pertaining to software...
