    I voted against a law in WA that would make construction of the monorail illegal (in a nutshell, we won BTW).

    What really pisses me off is that this is like the 4th time we have had to vote yes, yet when the stadium failed the vote it got built anyway!

    I wonder if Canada will stay out of the shit-storm our middle eastern policy is going to turn into. Call me paranoid, but I don't think it all that far fetched to wonder, if the rest of Arab world starts jumping in, whether this could turn into another world war.

    He doesn't own an iPod because you can't get music off? But as numerous posts have shown you can in fact do just that.

    Unfortunately it is probably illegal to do so thanks to our favorite law...

    Some of us do not appreciate having DRM built into our devices, and as such that is a valid reason to not want one.

    I kind of think of myself as an atheist because it is really, really, really, REALLY, REALLY*, unlikely. I guess, technically, I am an agnostic, but I am pretty sure there is no "creator".

    Actually, the paper says that their mathematical model suggest that everyone alive today SHARES A SINGLE ANCESTOR who lived about 3500 years ago. Not that he's our only ancestor from that time.

    While you can't teach somebody to be "good" you can foster an appreciation and interest in it. Calle me a hippy though, but one way you don't foster creative activity is by forcing all the kids to "color within the lines". I consider myself a proficient painter and I really hated that as a kid.

    Not true. Different languages and mental processes seem to be inherently linked. A different language allows one to formulate thoughts in a different way, thus possibly providing scientific (and artistic) insight that would be harder to do otherwise. There was a story here recently that showed how some cultures with languages that had no very large numbers had more dificulty formulating mathematical thoughts. I could see how the converse could be true.

    MS Blaster (I think) did actually take down all of the Bank of America ATM's in Seattle, WA a while back.

    It's simple to say the public fears it. It's important to know who is driving that fear.

    A lot of people like to point fingers at environmentalists and the like. But before you do that just think about whose best interest it is in to keep electricity expensive.... Life is never as simple as they want you to believe it is.

    I have heard a lot of bad things about paypal here. What would be the slashdot preferred vendor for services such as these?

    I would like to be able to take donations and stuff via credit card for specific groups on my site but want to avoid the "monopoly".

    I am not a troll, dumbass, I am a Python developer. Sorry to admit that there might actually be problems with your Holy Grail. People shouldn't have to put a disclaimer in a message to criticise an actual problem. Write an actual program that actual people use and see how many of them complain about how slow it starts up before calling others trolls.
