Microsoft's security problems are only going to get worse. The company designs its products to work together, creating a Microsoft monoculture. Because there are so many shared paths from Internet Explorer, Outlook, and Windows Media Player into the operating system, if you exploit one, you exploit them all. Vista promises to continue this consolidation by making the operating system the glue that connects users to their PCs, televisions, PDAs, and portable music and video players.
Yes, because this is oh so different from the way Apple handles everything, right? *rolleyes*
First of all, you shouldn't just go to Froogle, search for the lowest price, and buy something from BOB'S DISCOUNT ELECTRONICS which has a horrible seller rating and expect to get something worthwhile.
Sticking to reputable sellers like Amazon for instance, you're not going to have a problem, and customer service is there as well.
Failing all that, it's not difficult at all to call VISA up and get a chargeback done within a few minutes. Why even deal with arguing with a shady online store. If they screw up the order or scam you in some way, contact them making it very clear that if it isn't corrected immediately, you're going to call VISA and initiate a chargeback. If they still wanna play games, then don't waste the time or energy, just call VISA.
What brand(s) are you using that are failing so quickly? I would assume, or at least hope, that more expensive media like Verbatim isn't going to fail for decades.
Unless you yourself live in New York, please don't claim the terrorists have won because "we're all now so afraid of using public transport."
I live in New York. I'm not afraid to use the busses and subways, and considering I get onto a cram-packed 6 train every day, the vast majority of my fellow-New Yorkers don't either.
These measures, even if they are in reaction to terrorism, should've been put in place years ago anyway for the simple fact of keeping people out of locations they shouldn't be in in the first place. They'll also have the side benefit of contributing to convictions for crimes by street thugs like robberies.
As for the argument that there should be cops there instead, for one, with the amount of stations, and the grand size of the systems, this just isn't practical from a financial standpoint. And secondly, I would find it more invasive to have cops at every entrance and exit rather than cameras.

Terminator 2's Windows Media Video HD disc is indeed a double layer disc, and uses 6-7GB. It does not fit on a single layer DVD.

Sony allows porn on their new UMD format for PSP, so I don't think they'll have a problem about porn on Blu-Ray.
