well, as someone lese in that reply-tree already mentioned...you have to install ATI-drivers for 3D...2D is working out of the box.
The point is what is discussed in http://linux.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=118933&c id=10041113
doubleclick an exe and answer few questions or download an rpm/db/whatever and follow some instructions...
guess the first one wins, because everyone "knows" it...
well, your card works...just as fine on windows as under linux.
(sure enough, both may behave difficult when installing, that is just the risk in IT).

I am subscriber of WineX for a while now and I download and install every new release.
Everytime I do so, there is a thought crossing my mind. It says: "why do you support this?". The question is not originated from my opinion that WineX still have a long way to go to support really all games, especially the newer ones, and have a good way to install these (still have my troubles).
it is merely founded on the idea of motivating the gaming industry...
why "serving" them with emulators so that they dont need to port the games ("hey, linuxuser, dont whine, you got wineX")? Just a second later, the question is: would have they ported the games if winex doesn't exist??
in my opinion its a full circle of "do it" and "dont do it". I would love to see more games ported to linux as I see it as a future desktop OS...but the mere thought of companies like EA makes me shudder and lets me download the newest winex again...
the last few times I installed WinXp...
1) got the SP1 and the latest drivers
2) got the update-pack from http://winboard.org which includes all patches until two month ago
3) got http://www.free-av.de (virusscanner)
4) burn all these things on a CD
5) unplug cable to internet, boot, install XP, SP1, updatepack, free-av, plug cable back in, to to windowsupdate....
6) finish

I second that actually...
looks like they want people staying actually inside the restaurant...
IMHO most people go in, grab the food and then go out again (especially in summer/good weather time)...I dont think that (or I hope it wont) be a reason to stay longer in McD...
and after all, IMO it doesnt necessarily raise their income because people do not necessarily buy more food (not talking drinks, which is not really their primary income product, is it?)...
starbucks and such in that case, making money by people staying, drinking another coffee...might have a better impact with such a concept...
starbucks and such aren't often named in combination with "fast food", are they?
