  1. Currently, politicians and the powerful elites are rarely heard from in person, anyway. We get to see the results of their secret meetings and closed-door sessions through carefully crafted press releases and the societal changes we see every day. The controllers, I'm sure, positively love this technology, because it will give them an additional outlet to turn the screws on the little guys.

Think about it, ubiquitous mobile video was probably the last tool that was still on the side of the people. Now, when a powerful elite gets caught talking about how he feels about minorities or wants to bring groups of people "to heel", they can just say the video was compromised. And when one of us proles becomes too uppity and starts criticizing them, they can easily edit us into being a racist or sexist or whatever -ist they come up with this week to suit their "two minutes hate".

Please ignore the fact that you can't get iOS 10 on a 4 year old iPhone, while you can run Marshmallow, the latest fully released Android version (Nougat is only partially released atm), on 7 year old phones. It's the Android that's "unupgradeable", sure.

This might be the biggest [citation fucking really needed] I've ever posted.

Please show me which Android phone, released in 2009 (2009 + 7 = 2016, and 2016 is the current year in case you weren't sure) can run Marshmallow without hacking or running a custom ROM. Hell, please show me which Android phones (you did say phones, so please show at least two), released in 2009, can run Marshmallow WITH a hack or custom ROM. I'm serious, I want to know which underpowered single-core Android can be hacked into running Marshmallow so I can try it for myself just to see how usable it is. I'm genuinely curious.

As for Apple, sure, you can't run iOS on an iPhone 4S, but that was released in 2011 (5 years ago), which the iPhone 5, released in 2012 (4 years ago) has received the iOS 10 update WITHOUT hacks and is still very usable. You are misleading people and being disingenuous. Why? You compare apples to baseballs and somehow makes you feel Android is superior, and that's OK, but please, please don't try and mislead users into thinking that Android is the platform that will provide them with a stable, supported upgrade path more than a year or two into the future.

The thing is, it's the hypocrisy of it all that bothers me. Well, that and the erasing of personal preference. I prefer not to date women with red hair, I don't find it attractive. Should I be called a hair-ist? She had no control over being born with red hair, should I be forced by law to date a redhead even if I don't find her attractive because "discrimination"? 10. I'm not talking about 3rd party ROMs like Cyanogenmod. That's why I said it can't be done "without rooting, etc.". Sure I can run a 3rd party ROM but then I lose VoLTE, that's the point.

The last 3 Andoids I've used are VoLTE capable and enabled running stock ROMs, and my last 2 iPhones (6 and 7) are as well (both capable and enabled). Let me select the mode I wish to use and be done with it. All I get as a benefit from allowing legacy air interfaces to be an option is decreased battery life as the phone monitors a network I have no interest in using (and if I do need/want it, I'll select it manually).

  11. This isn't something that can eavesdrop on LTE calls, it just forces the phone off of LTE back onto older more insecure air interfaces. But it does make sense now why no phone I've ever owned allows me to force LTE-only mode (without resorting to rooting, jailbreaking, or other hacking), they need to make sure the TLAs can backdoor us onto their stingrays at any given moment.

    The optical drive made sense.
The headphone jack almost makes sense (under the right circumstances, but not for me so I won't be upgrading from my 6S+)
Removing the physical home button is simply retarded.
    And the USB port?

Positively asinine. All the other ports were either obsolete or being replaced by other technologies. The USB port is a standard connector used by literally millions of devices. Hopefully, this is where Apple finally realizes they've jumped the shark, that removing more and more useful connections won't be bringing Jobs back from the dead, and they'll have to actually innovate or die.

I don't like Android's ecosystem for mobile devices. Google and their incessant spying just isn't my bag. But I'd rather see Apple die than continue to make stupid decisions over and over and over again to the point that their products end up being just a screen with content you do not control and an Apple logo on it that you are compelled by the EULA to stare at for 8 hours a day lest your license to stare at the device be revoked and the hardware is bricked.
