I was reading the MSN article, and I clicked on the "NASA: Space Elevator Concept" link under "Going Up: Resources", and got a "404 error: This file name does not exist on this server."
I was looking at the conceptual model, and I noticed that the thruster arrangement only applies force in the x, y and z axes. There are no nozzles that allow pitch, yaw and roll. Then I looked at the testbed. It has thrusters in the x and y axes that would also allow yaw changes, but no z translation, and no pitch or roll.
Now, maybe they were planning to use gyros in the final version, but that would seem to be an unnecessary complication. It might be easier to have thruster nozzles with small electrically controlled baffles to open and close the nozzles, and 1 or 2 internal fans to intake and exhaust air (in a pressurized environment) from/to the appropriate nozzle(s).
Ahhh, but what happens if(when, Lord willin' and the crick don't rise) Microsoft's other products stop making money for them? Then they will be in the position that SCO is in now, with no other source of revenue and a fistfull of patents to squeeze money out of.

Or is he a Danish prude (isn't he an OxyMoron?) Or is that a prude Danish?
Did the guy pay the credit card company with a check from his own checking/savings account?
You better start formatting that puppy now, as it'll take about 20,480,000 hours to format(2,338 years)!

Now that's a timely comment.
There was a story on Slashdot about how Verizon pressured the Pennsylvania legislature to prevent Philadelphia from creating it's own WiFi network
