The only sure fire way to protect your data and business is unplug your computer, dust off your check book and buy a roll of stamps. Keep your pictures in an album and mail letter (yes letters!) to your friends. Better still move to the forest and forget it.
Seriously can we actually have privacy and safety and be linked as we are today?
'Wayland will be an option, and one that only people who don't mind having their desktops blow up on a regular basis should fool with, in Ubuntu 11.04."
Every time I upgrade or clean install Ubuntu something blows up. Why is this different? I now consider the blowing up part of the leaning experience.
You have the right to demand that any collection action be done in writing and no calls to ones job or family, friends etc. However how that plays out on public social media is unknown. While there are rules about harassment and such would posting 'you owe us money and are late' constitute such? I have been late on a payment with a bank - by 1 week mind you - and had 5-8 calls a day on my cell phone using different numbers to cover who they were. Disgusting yes but illegal no.
From the article "Bob isn’t meant for the initiated. It’s designed for the millions of people who, each year, will start to use computers for the first time. Its interface should encourage exploration and its wacky characters may be just the comic relief that new users need to get over their initial phobias."
So some stayed with their phobias and and remained mired in the Windows world where they expect the OS to think for them and others evolved out of the primordial mud and learned Linux. I used Bob briefly back in the day and felt insulted the first 30 minutes and there after every time I booted up a Windows machine.
This was not it. These were answers aimed at stockholders and loan officers. Nice , temperate, safe and no boat rocking. Linux has become big business and welcome to the real world.
Indeed! I have never had random black screen crashes and buggy wifi connections with any version of Linux as I have had with karmic. It has taken a month of tweaks, upgrades, back porting and such to get a 'nearly' stable machine. Karmic is Ubuntu's Vista.
How are people going to use this anyway? As a big e-reader? game pad? movie player? Right now it all looks cool and shiny but who is going to spend a thousand dollars - or $999 as the article reads - for this? I love cool and shiny but I don't see adding this to my life unless I had a pressing reason to do so and touch screen isn't the reason.
I would never do what this guy did! I might ask you to look at how you worded something or ask you to consider saying something better but NEVER change a resume with out your knowledge. That is a train wreck in the interview waiting to happen.

In Mother Russia we only need one phone and one app store and one line to bread store. Too much stuff confuse us. Yeah right Steve.
Yeah we have an app for that.

Chexting? ;-)

If so I might have some great stock tips to sell 'ya. Than again I have been here long enough to know /. is closer to anti-social media.

posting as an Anonymous Coward b/c I don't have an account yet.
If Iran wants to fight with Israel, then shouldn't Israel handle it on its own?
And if Hitler wants to march into Poland let the Polish handle it. Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it....
