So you're saying that 20 years after a patent has expired I can repatent it myself. Hmm I think i'll head down to the Patent Office and tell them how I invented the internal combustion engine and the silicon junction transistor.

Hmm even better idea, how about making a php script that generates 1000 random email addresses each time its run, and includes multiple links back to itself with different query strings so any email-harvesting spider will keep looping through it collecting trash....
Well it wouldn't need all that much RAM to serve images no matter how big they are, it only needs to pipe them out on the network, not keep the entire images in memory locally.. Assuming of course you can work out some way to get TCP/IP onto that things and a useful network interface....
Just plot the number of software patents against a timeline, and look at that exponential curve
The number of software patents does NOT indicate there have been more worthwhile inventions. It can simply indicate that its a lot easier to make any kind of ridiculous patent no matter how obvious the concept is. True there may be more valid patents as well, but they are getting lost in the noise of people/corporations abusing the system in the hopes of squeezing money out of everyone at some point down the road.

Yeah, some people have a little too much time on their hands to mod up their cases. All i've taken the time to do is find a bit of glo-wire and done this: 12 Very simple and people tend to notice it at LANs and the like.
I'm sure it would if you took out the batteries and hooked it up to a multiple terawatt power source of some kind. Of course the bulb might not last all that long.....
Ok whats the definition of encryption:
encryption
n : the activity of converting from plain text into code That sounds suspiciously like what rot13 does, it may be a simple cypher but its still encryption. Just an example because its one of the smaller/simpler instances of something, it does not mean it does not belong in that group anymore. Do you no longer consider an Apple IIe to be a computer?
Unless you make Patent void when the inventor dies, it'll keep on happening
Thats only going to lead to one place, where any holder of a worthwhile patent is going to have a VERY short life unless they can afford some very good protection...
I'm not sure you would get away with that. A Triple Rot-26 encryption standard (3R26) might be accepted by the current patent office however...
nothing the "Redmond Washington-based software giant" does is good for anyone!
This wasn't good for anyone? Just thought it was worth pointing out...
the most common reported failure in the iBook is the keyboard (because it is removable?
No I would assume its because of the same reason keyboards everywhere tend to fail - coffee.
O sun, stand still at Gibeon, And O moon in the valley of Aijalon
If you read it the right way moon in that context might be the verb and not the noun...

It should be the MP3 of the written word!
Shh don't tell the publishing cartels this, but its already out there, its called ASCII!

This is informative? Is there some secret cabal between the fake-story trolls and newbie moderators that we were previously unaware of?
Haha yeah so I do, I never noticed that. I just followed the inset edge of the case around the edge of all the drive bays.
Its actually done in a few places already simply to force people to use the proxy without setting up a transproxy or the like..

That is definantly one uber case. Can't see myself spending 2 years working on one like he did though...

Oh you meant how do you block viruses using a linux server?
killall -9 sendmail
You should of just gone to google, the first instance I easily found of that story is here. Its worth a quick read.

They must be really small boys, somewhere between the size of attoboys and zeptoboys.
Dont know what google you used but the one everyone else searches web with had the following results:
Searched the web for "innocent until proven guilty". Results 1 - 10 of about 28,300
Searched the web for "guilty until proven innocent" . Results 1 - 10 of about 11,000
Interesting...
google yourself

If you had said that anywhere but here it could of been taken in a bad way.
Think of what filesystems would be like if they deleted old files because you were creating new ones: you might delete your kernel
Not if you're one of the up to date bleeding edge people who recompiles with a new kernel every couple of days.
