I have been gaming my entire life. I played the original NES growing up, discovered MMOs in the form of MUDs in the early 1990s, and have subsequently played every game that ever got above an 8 rating in any credible gamer mag.
But for the last two years of my life, I have been addicted to, and have played only, one game. This game is an HL2 mod called "Empires". Because it is a mod, the development team could do some pretty risky things, and have created a fascinating blend of first person shooter and real time strategy.
It is simply the best, most engaging, hardest game I have ever played.

Why Nerds are Unpopular.
By appealing to his intellect, you can show him the forces at work at school, and why he has to conquer them. It's silly asking a nerd to become not-a-nerd because its "the right thing to do" (which is what most arguments amount to)... but show him how popularity works, and how he might take advantage of it for himself, and you may get somewhere.
Does anybody else find it frightening that we have web browsers with automatic language translation? I mean, its awesome! But... where the hell was I when the world got all Star Trek?
Yeah, but it kicks azz to slip a fold-up keyboard into one pocket of your jeans, and one Zaurus into the other. Not even the smallest/lightest laptop is that darned portable.

That's like asking for a web browser and being told slashdot runs apache.
