So many of my fellow Christians seem to think that evolution is an attack on us and our beliefs. It's not. It is simply the result of rational consideration of the facts at hand. Science is not (well, should not be) malicious and has (should have) no interest in attacking religion, as the existence of diety is currently outside the reach of science.
There are plenty of Christians that believe that the Bible is the actual word of God and is not to be questioned. When the Bible says that life started directly by God's hand and everything has been the same since he created it, they believe exactly that.
Now, other Christians, that aren't taught that the Bible is to be interpreted literally, might be able to understand as you do -- but that doesn't include *all* Christians.
I think it's telling that every time the public finds out that a school board tried to undermine science education via an attack on mainstream scientific theories, the public votes them out immediately.
For now -- at least while this Board is in office. If another Board takes office and turns it back over they'll be the laughing stock again for two more years.
The only way to eliminate this is to end the discussion, once and for all, by saying that ID is *not* scientific and doesn't belong anywhere but theology and philosophy courses.
Farming states are full of people that have no idea what they could use it for and don't think they need it.
Yes, because all "farm states" (I live in a metro area and am not a farmer) are backwater hicks that don't know about them Internets thangs, right? For fuck's sake, get a clue.
Clicking through the politics wikimag I was surprised to see (announced as breaking news, no less) the story Anna Nicole Smith 1967-2007 DEAD. And that's politics?
With the recent photos released of her in bed with the Bahamian immigration minister, I guess it's possible to squeeze a blurb into that topic.
I think we need a 'common carrier' style law for advertising programs. It's obviously not possible for Google to police each and every website that signs up for ad impressions.
Well, when you sign up to be an AdSense "partner" it does tell you that they will review your site's content to make sure that it will be acceptable for their ads. They won't allow you to be a porn site, etc, etc, etc.
So, if they are doing that, then they should be able to block anything else that they might not want to have their ads displayed on.
Both sites sold a repackaged BitTorrent client and access to a P2P search system, but the defendants argue that they are not guilty of the charges.
Where are these sites located? First off, selling repackaged BitTorrent clients isn't against the law. Second, are these sites hosted and run from areas of the world that permit you to link to torrents regardless of their content?
While this would be an embarrassment to Google here in the US because our media sucks and never tells full truths, it wouldn't matter legally in those countries.
Google should screen against illegal activities in the country of origin.
If MS clamped down on piracy right now, then people would switch to cheaper / free products in a heartbeat.
They are here in the developed world by turning off automatic updates and further locking down their products while going after small businesses that aren't using officially licensed products.
Yet, no matter what, people are not going to switch en mass to the free alternatives because they aren't ready for the desktop, people aren't comfortable with them, and the interoperability (while better) still isn't good enough to allow for people to "switch in a heartbeat".
Sadly, the day will never come when we will be able to do as you claim.
How many people really need to drive 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year? I live in montana (read: it's cold and there is very very poor public transportation) and I still walk/ride bike every where. Why can't more people do this?
Because where I live (in the suburbs of Mpls/St Paul) we still don't have viable public transportation from suburb to suburb just from suburb to city, it's still cold (luckily it's 13F this morning instead of -13F), and it's too expensive for me to live where I work.
My 33.2 mile one-way commute sucks but my $745 mortgage 33 miles away would be a $1350+ mortgage where I work.
While I'd love to live somewhere where it's different, I don't, and I'm not about to move from my family and friends *again* just because I don't want to drive.
Because one thing out of the billions that they do that's negative makes it all ok? Fuck that. Fuck any and all governmental abuse and fuck you and everyone else in this thread that thinks this is a good idea.
What is the point of putting something that looks like 8mm film on HD, BluRay, or DVD for that matter?
You obviously don't watch porn, especially not porn that has been placed on HD-DVD already. If you are watching porn and it's 8mm quality, then you're watching amateur pornos that aren't what people are talking about here.
We rented some movie that was a direct rip off of Pirates of the Caribbean and the case contained both HD-DVD and DVD. It was some high quality stuff including CGI.
Wait, does this mean a Google product is out of beta? Stop the presses!!!
There's no way that they are seriously considering using the office suite to do anything productive or to replace Microsoft Office (or whatever other suite they use).
Go ahead and open a document and try hitting the insert key on your keyboard. Yeah, it doesn't work.
If *that* doesn't work, I just can't bring myself to move any further into the application to consider it.
Sorry, the service won't be available for DirecTV TiVo subscribers or TiVo subscribers who use a telephone phone line to access the service.
Well, that's one reason why the DirecTiVo subscribers won't be able to use it... Most DirecTiVo users aren't running hacked receivers that allow for the broadband connection. Why DirecTV keeps its users in the dark on the upgrades I'll never know. It's not like their own DVR is any good (in fact, I used a HD DVR this weekend at a friend's place and was completely unable to fast forward/rewind like I would expect it to work being a TiVo user).
You can upload them if you're a home owner (probably a good idea if you want to sell your house and it looks nice) but they don't have the full frontal w/o that.
The current development there has two housing units up and a third on the way. Based on a for sale sign in a yard I'm familiar with, I would date these photos to the spring of 2006.
The photos are completely unreadable and mean absolutely nothing. Let's see the entire graph with labels so that we can know exactly what's going on during the calls. From that graph, for all we know, we could be looking at more than what they claim.
this isn't *that* much different from tailing a suspect (but there's a key difference in the fact that live-tailing is limited because each tail requires an officer)
Oh it's a fuckload different. There are limitless numbers of GPS units available to the police. There are not limitless numbers of police officers to physically tail a suspect.
This is complete and utter horseshit. That judge should be removed from the bench and the cops that decided this would be a good idea should be put on permanent unpaid leave.
And those are the least downloaded I'm sure. I, for one, completely ignore CAM versions and either wait for DVD or the "better" release that's ripped from some other source (usually DVD).
I don't bother to pirate much anymore because their DVD release schedules are so fast -- but if someone does need to be seen I certainly wouldn't bother with a 700MB CAM.
I talk about other things and I'm in my mid-twenties. Musical tastes don't make a shit of a difference to me (or anyone that I have dated) when selecting a mate.
Honestly, if someone found that they were incompatible with me because of the music I listen to, I would have a hard time believing that they were worth it.
Good luck pulling out anything meaningful - You might have a lot of "data", but I'd trust an appropriations bill for an Alaskan bridge before I'd rely on anything you could query from a multi-state DB monstrosity.
What *you* trust and what the Government is told to trust are two different things. Everyone knows data is skewed. They just want to make sure it's skewed to support their interests and pet projects. If it is, the data is published.
The Q, from what I have experienced using it, is also a huge failure. The device requires resets all the time, the UI is absolutely awful (go ahead -- try setting up to use a third party mail server and tell me it's easy to use), and the browser is pitiful.
I haven't ever used a Blackjack, but because it runs Windows Mobile I can only imagine it is as equally awful as the Q.
It's just you IMHO. It sounds like someone that doesn't like the fact that Google is doing it for the sole reason of improving its image in the world and not for the reason that its algorithms shouldn't have allowed it to occur in the first place.
To be honest, Googlebombs that point you to relevant information from somewhere else (i.e. linking a restaurant's name to your blog content from another post) is an important feature of Google's indexing. It should not be limited. Linking unrelated content ("failure" to various individuals that may or may not be) needed to be fixed.
As long as their new methods allow for related content to continue to be linked to and unrelated content to be bumped, I'm good w/it.
So many of my fellow Christians seem to think that evolution is an attack on us and our beliefs. It's not. It is simply the result of rational consideration of the facts at hand. In fact, Internet communication and research is growing for farmers as a way of learning about better crop yields, soil care, etc.
"+5 So True it's Scary" would be the proper mod, not +5 Funny.

Have we in the Western world become so enamored by political correctness that we cannot even take a joke for what it is?
We've become so enamored with religion and terrorism that we can't make jokes about anything having to do with either.

Yeah, it may be free of "academic-speak" but it's free of pretty much everything else as well. Thanks for posting this to Slashdot!
That's not something a few hundred million dollars can't fix.
You mean "That's not something a few hundred million dollars in stock can't fix."
