It's still only using a 550:1 contrast ratio, and that's how you get black, well... shades of grey. CRT's still have a hudge edge over the LCD world. At least DLP technology is steadily changing that. I'm sorry, but I can't sit down and watch Episode III on this monitor and lie to myself the entire time, trying to convince myself that space really is just a shade of grey.
Netflix is garbage. With longer and longer turn around times on movies, your cost per disk is much higher than mine, seeing as how I can return my movies when I have time. And let's say I'd like to have a movie rampage and watch a stream of 007 movies the same day, that would be next to impossible using Netflix (which I used for well over a year, but just recently cancelled) with their 3-5 day overall turn around (unless you're a new customer.. funny how month to month subscribers rank lower and lower on their totum poll). Compare that to driving around the block and doing a quick exchange at Blockbuster, and I'll take that any day. And before you reply that Netflix has more titles, I'll tell you to save the bandwidth, because they do. That's why it's smart to have a blockbuster, AND a netflix account. BB for fast exchanges and new releases, and Netflix for the stuff BB doesn't have:)
State - Did you make any online purchases this year?
You - *fills in no whilst using your new uber computer you just dropped a few K on from newegg...*
To tie a cheap oem 300watt power supply to a whopper of a PC that you just blew a few thousand dollars on is the biggest mistake most people make, and overlook. Dirty unreliable power supplies that feed your PC are like heart attacks waiting to happen. If you're going to invest heavily into building a new computer, do not over look your PSU. If you do a little research (other than compare maximum power to price) regarding Max power @ watt operating temperature, you'll see that most cheap PSU's are rated say 300watts, but for a nice 30 degree Celsius operating temp. Now let's think about that. How many PC's operate that cool? Also, your better built PSU's will typically weigh a lot more, because they're simply better built. Nice and heavy means beefier power supplies, larger capacitors (to give your board that extra oomph it requires when you boot, or when you load it up), and it might even mean you have PFC included--a Power filter controller. These PSU Companies aren't always out to get the consumer by the jugular.
Until Comcast upgrades their infrastructure, and has oodles of bandwidth to shovel out to its customers, I'd be hesitant to switch. I have VoIP myself with Time Warner - Roadrunner in central New York, and it's nothing to write home about. With VoIP sucking on my modem's limited upstream bandwidth, (thank you again Time Warner for the mammoth 384kbps upstream) you start to notice the packet loss in your conversations, along with the frequent disconnects, and the nice lag you notice on your cell phone but shouldn't have to worry about on your land line. Before you jump ships and think VoIP is some sort of messiah, just take a closer look at what you're getting yourself into.
The FCC needs to get off the broadcasters backs. Howard Stern to name one, and many other broadcasters are being hammered by the FCC with independent fines and numerous other complaints on a daily basis. Who is the FCC to claim what is indecent or not? The idea of keeping old broadcastings just so someone can nail a broadcaster is insane. Broadcasters make a living trying to entertain us, why hate them?
Nearly two years ago I was with Cingular. Roughly half way into my one year contract with them, my nokia phone, "died" (for lack of a better term). I really never cared becuase I had two phones on the plan, the other being an Erikson model. Roughly two months after this incident, my erikson model "died" (the other end could not hear me when i called out on the phone). So, I traveled down to my nearest cingular office (not one of those small, teenage staffed joints), but one of their corporate offices here in central new york. I informed a representitive of what had happened, and as politely as possible she informed me that there was nothing she could do for me, and I would have to continue paying my phone bill for the last 3 months of my contract (for phones that no longer work). I then reluctantly asked if i could pay a penalty fee and switch phones, or exchange the non working ones for at least one new phone that would work. The representivie informed me that I was not allowed to do this until my contract expired. Well, to sum up what happened, I still owe three months of service to Cingular, but like hell will they ever see one penny from me. They did not provide me with a service for my remaining three months, considering I was never able to use it.
Cingluar is bad news. I'm now with Cricket Wireless (yeah i know.. not the best choice.. but the coverage on my phone suits me everywhere I venture, and unlimited service for $29.99/month is'nt bad.)
I will never go back to Cingular, ever.

But for $29.99/month, you can rent 3 movies at a time, as many times as you want..WITH NO LATE FEES.

I'm surprised that they just haven't had auctions to talk to real live customer service reps ;)
"But it now for $1/min!"
