ThorGod makes a great point, in a sense we've only been transmitting radio signals for about 100 years. So, these signals are reaching a few other solar systems near by. I would also recommend Michio Kaku's book, and if you ever see him on TechTV he gives great interviews even though his site lacks somewhat IMO.
It may have no economical value, but it would help students studying the areas the copyrights cover by making those areas free. Thus it would make it more feasible for students to do research projects and such on the material that is no longer worth the companies time.
What I meant was say you take a piece of paper, maybe the daily paper, and you put it under this device, the device blows up your paper, onto a television screen, so you can see the writing more clearly. I did not mean enlarging things on computer screens.

Has anyone forgot that the bike (unless we're talking about ET) is in constant contact with the ground. This means (even though the tires are rubber) any excess electrons you are receiving from the power lines will be transmitted into the ground. Therefore your charge in the bike and yourself should remain neutral most of the time. Of course this is all electrostatic charges vs. the current from the wire.
How true, how very true. Although I do not have any horror stories such as your's, it is a pain in the ass to prove that my birthday is on Apr 1. I mean can't people believe me? Oh well, I should forge my birth certificates, burn all of the traces of my existance and become Jose.
Remember when you try to capture the energy, the kinetic energy becomes less and there is no way to add more potential energy. Even if there was a way to harness some of the earths potential energy, eventually our orbit would stop and we would become fried crisps of humans.
Why is it then that I am still learning this. As I am only a senior in highschool. I would have hoped by now someone would have changed the laws (or whatever governs these sort of things) so that I don't have to learn two systems. I mean wouldn't it just make more sense?
You are correct as I recall. We had quite an interesting argument with our calculus teacher over this specific topic. Due to America using non-metric standards he says the density of water is 62.4 lb/ft^3 where as all of our learning to this point in highschool has made it out to be one kg/m^3 (I think my units are correct, if not I am sure I will be corrected). But, what I am saying is that how can us students interrelate each system. It would be much easier to learn one system for schooling as a whole, rather than how it is now learning two systems. I mean damnit America why must you be so ignorant?

CNN is reporting the US is already taking in defectors. But, the surrender leaflets are in english. I would like to know how many Iraqi soldiers can read and write the english language.
In our silly midwestern town it was not too long ago (two weeks or so) that our city council finally made it legal. But, now we have to wait for our state public service commision to allow this service to be instated. Which means more time before our market can reach a higher level of parity between cable/DSL/fiber. Supposedly our electric company has run the cable throughout the city, but not to the houses because it has been (and still is technically) illegal to do this. Its all the government's fault that we consumers cannot pay a nominale amount for our internet. I say this because of the mandates essentially making public services monopolies in each town. For example, I believe only fifty miles away people have a choice of Cox or Qwest high speed access. Of which Qwest I believe is comparatively cheaper than Alltel which we are forced to use. Just my two cents.
