What an amazing Idea. I never thought of having them make donations 'in my name' to causes I care about. EFF is def. one of them. Thanks!

As a resident of Central Florida that was affected by THREE Hurricanes in once season, I can tell you that I am most definitley concerned. Warming oceans continue to give rise to conditions that are more than favorable for these types of storms.

  3. 8-bit Nintendo Controller Hacks on Digital Generation, Analog Retro Chic · · Score: 1
    > Any other cool or interesting retro analog devices?

I ran across this not to long ago. I haven't bothered to pick one up yet, but an 8-bit Nintendo (as well as other classic console systems) conroller was hacked to give it a USB cord - supposedly works with any emulator you can download freely: RetroPad

This has the dual purpose of feeding my retro need for some classic gaming of my youth, and the modern addiction to free software.

This actually brings up an interesting point, for me. If the bush administration can get away (using the term liberally) with a preemptive strike on iraq fueled by revenge fantasies and hallibuton energy poliicies(tm) -- then why wouldn't another organization (SCO) -- clearly in the wrong (even if by hindsight ... i.e. no WMDs) as the neo-cons in DC -- launch a failed/flawed 'war' over untruths and inaccurate data? the point being that something as seemingly unrelated as this comparison might have more to it than meets the eye.

Interesting theory. However, the two examples cited were very savvy business folks and didn't get put over a barrell. But no-talent hacks, like much of the manufactured artists out there, cry when their career is lost - but if they lived in reality they would realize that the rug could get pulled out from under them at any minute - but most delude themselves into thinking that they are taltented and will be famous forever. ... And they're gave $5,000 each to employees that lost property in Hurricane Charley. Not a loan or anything... A friend of my mom's got one of them.

    I respect them for that.

i have a DVR from my cable provider (brighthouse networks, previously TimeWarner Cable)... i love it, and am thinking about switching out my old digital box in my bedroom for one (i hate having to sit in the living room at 1 in the morning to watch adult swim episodes before i go to bed, when i could just fall asleep watching them in my room)... i recently noticed what most surely looks like a firewire port in the front of it... it is a hard disc style recorder... off to google that to see if i can get at it. i'd settle for even just an audio feed of some of these programs to sample.
