All the people who know and want their rights are close enough to marching outside the whitehouse. Our freedom is our identity to the world...but we're slowly becoming exactly what we think is a crime elsewhere.
Problem is, if you watch/read story on the PATRIOT act, its always a divided issue. They interview random people, and about half are willing to give up certain rights or freedoms for 'our protection'. But these people don't even know what it means, or the potential reprocussions of doing so, however they still get to vote. Is it even possible to really make a statement to our government or even bring about the changes we need without the support of the large herd of ignorant/brainwashed sheep(or maybe lemmings is more appropriate?)?
Which really brings up the question: Which is the bigger crime? Having your congress represent you 100%, even if you don't know whats best for yourself; or having congress think for you when you don't agree?
The companies worth working for usually hire internally. They are smart enough not to give an important job to someone they don't know, who might be unreliable, etc.
I just got a job doing Service Desk over the phone for Unisys(and oh how I hate telephones). Even thought I'm realistically qualified for more based on past experience, its a great start. Working next to the guys with lab coats is the first step in getting a lab coat:)
However with out the paper education, it'll still be tough to move up, thats an advantage you have.
Try to find a place with tuition reimbursment, too. That way you can learn for free what they want to hire you for.
No one knows where to put the stuff. Everyone says "not in my back yard" and that "nothing will ever grow there. EVER."
When you live someplace where there isn't anyplace to put it that you know of, those comments make a lot of sense.
Only since I've moved to Utah did I find out there are thousands(?) of square miles of...nothing. Of big salty deserts. Where nothing will ever grow. EVER.
People also worry about transporting it..."what if there is an accident?"
Also in Utah is an airforce base where they make/dispose of chemical weapons. The most dangerous weapons in the world are disposed of just outside the city. And how do they get there? late at night on the public freeway. And its allowed.
Still, regardless of all these facts, the overwhelming hatred for nuclear power is louder than anything else. Shows to go that no matter what, the hypocrisy of the "Green" to nuclear power conquers all.
Headphones are like any speaker, they are designed for a different sound. The BEST home theater setup wont be the BEST for music, and vice versa.
Sennheiser, while good, are only good for their kind of music. Music with delicate highs and a full frequency range. Mostly classical and the like. Awesome soundstage. Flat frequency response.
However I wouldn't own a pair of Senns because I don't listen to that kind of music. Not only that, but they need a LOT of power. Normal headphone jack? no good. You need a dedicated $200+ headphone amp(the DSP Sennheiser sells is NOT an amp, btw)
Grado cans on the other hand sound much faster and alive, great for rock, or any kind of faster music. They also have a better sounding bass. Listen to Rush with the Sennheiser HD-600(most expensive non-electrostatics they make) and then listen with the Grado SR-60(cheapest open-air Grado makes). TOTALLY different sound, and despite the lack of bass in the Grado low-end models, I bet a donut you'll like the SR-60 better. The SR-225 is probably the best value, and some say best sound of the SR line, but I went for the 325's. the RS line uses wood so a smoother sweeter sound, I can't wait to get some myself.
Downfall to Grado: soundstage. Almost none. Its a very in-head sound. With Senns you'll sometimes wonder if you left some speakers on by accident. High-end Grados still sound perfect and smooth, but you know their headphones. Even so, Senns sound so dead on the wrong music, a pair of $50 sonys would be just as good.
Do electrostatics like Stax sound better than normal dynamics? well, I've never tried any myself, but most people who spend like 10k on headphone setups still don't buy Stax.
Best soundstage headphones going around right now? People say the AKG K1000, but they sorta cheat, the drivers are held away from your ear. Funny looking things.
btw, did you know you can make your own electrostatic headphones at home? I believe you use clear plastic wrap to produce the sound....

...might give developers and computers a chance to catch up(possibly the reason for the delay). Right now we have games NOT being written for DX9 because most people still don't even have a DX8 video card. Hardware and software and keeping pace with each other, but the consumer is left in the dust. Its just time for a slow-down. Just like Intel and AMD producing ever-faster CPUs every other day, there gets to be a time when the market just says "ENOUGH! I'm happy with what I've got."
This gives hardware guys time to just pump out faster models, and take their time creating some big changes in new designs.
