  1. Re:Ah... marketing on Microsoft Rolls Out Pocket PC 2003 · · Score: 2, Interesting

My guess is that they want to market the Pocket PC OS on "won't fit in my pocket" mobile electronics, like Tablet PCs. Would you rather use "Windows Mobile" or "Pocket PC" on Tablet PCs? Plus, because it has "Windows" in the name, it must be better just like MSN must be better because it is based on Microsoft technology. :)

  2. Windows on Microsoft Rolls Out Pocket PC 2003 · · Score: 3, Interesting

So they still aren't changing the name "Windows", since it has basically lost its trademark? You'd think they would change "Windows" to something else in all their OS products so they could trick..er..show that they actually changed the product (marketing scheme).

For some reason, civilizations have been fascinated with the number 7. the 7 wonders, seven sages, seven days in a week (tied into God resting 1 day after 6 days of work), etc... (and there are a lot more)

One explanation is that it is the oddest single digit number. It is the largest single digit prime and the other primes (2, 3, 5) are "just too simple" and small.

Another explanation could be that the largest number represented by a 2 bit number is 3. The largest number represented by a 3 bit number is 7. But that is far fetched and stupid.

There have actually been 50 billion chips shipped, because everyone on earth (~6 billion) wants an average of about 6 computers running on the intel chipset; 2 of which are dual processing machines. Therefore 49 billion have been pirated.

You should be able to hype a product before release, but you shouldn't be able to hype features that will not exist, or will not work properly. Whether before or after release, you should be held liable (if commercially sold of course) for not providing what you said (essentially lying to change market conditions, etc...). What if GM touted that their new car, Kit, is going to be the car from "Knight Rider", but in reality it can only talk (no AI)? They are lying. False advertisement.
