    Actually you can get a fairly cheap UAV, by retrofitting an existing plane, with a camera and transmitter.

    The hard part is long range control, as while the transmitters are good for a mile or so being able to control a target at that distance with mark one eyeballs is a tad difficult.

    that is why you need two camera's, one in the belly, and one in the "cockpit"

    In 1994 i know of one guy who modified an arcade game case(the kind were you sat inside of it) to be the on the ground cockpit for his RC plane. it was cool back then.

    Per OSHA, and EPA regulations a broken CFL requires a hazmat team to properly clean up after it.

    Recycling CFL's doubles their cost. Not recycling them guarantee's that the mercury will end up in your water table. CFL's can't be dimmed intelligently or fully. Dimming an incandescent to 75% of the output doubles the life, but halves the life of CFL's

    CFL's are just stupid. LED's while harder to manufacture will be a far better replacement.

    exactly. I have been trying to find a cheap version of windows 7 for a while. I have even hunted down some wholesalers, and I can't seem to find it for less than retail, unless I am part of some ultra special group.

    You used to be able to buy XP OEM disks from certain builders but I can't even do that anymore.

    even if you replace the full OS, you can always then install the B&N android app on you now android tablet from the android marketplace.

    well that and in the barnes and noble i was in the other day the lady behind the counter told the customer who was buying one, is that you just had to follow some instructions on a website and you could do so much more.

    Of course this Barnes and noble was on a tech college campus, so it isn't that surprising.

    Would you rather have the world's wealthy spending billions of extra money on watching poor men kicking each other in the balls and killing each other.

    That was considered a golden age too.

    at least the majority of today's sports isn't physical slaughter.

    So you have a camera setup in a hallway all night. For 5 seconds of that 28,800 seconds(8 hours) you have a heat flow that appeared at random moves against the airflow of the hallway and you consider it normal?

    it would be a pocket of air spontaneously being hit with enough cosmic rays that it lights up for a few seconds.

    Like I said I don't think it is ghosts but it is unusual and we don't have explanations for it YET.

    EVP and IR camera's can and do pick strange readings. Readings that aren't easily picked out. whether or not they are ghosts is something else, but there are readings that shouldn't be possible with our understanding of the physical world.

    Take an IR camera, and a regular camera, strap them together to they record separately but identical images(offset slight of course) and walk around some of these "haunted" places. it may take a week or so but you will pick up things on the IR camera that isn't recorded by the regular camera. IR camera's can detect heat flows but a heat flow that randomly appears lasts for 5 seconds and disappears is unusual.

    It is also why i never program numbers into the car, I pick up the phone dial whom I want and let the handsfree take over.

    that isn't far from the truth.

    My iphone has fallen from 12 feet onto concrete, and I only have a small chip in the housing to show for it.

    It also depends on exactly how and where it hits. landing on a corner is actually better than landing on the glass. landing on a small stone is worse than landing flat, etc.

    Fairplay hasn't been used in anything but movies for 5 years now.

    let's move into this decade please.

    Also Fairplay wasn't apple's idea but the demands of the music industry who didn't want compatible RM schemes.

    Apple is guilty of lots of things fairplay isn't one of them.

    I think blogs, and even facebook itself demonstrate very well that there will always be some content out there.

    The major news sites just have to revamp, and stop being centers for advertising but centers for content and the people will come back. when a 5 page web article only has 2 pages of actual content you have a serious problem in your layout designs.

    Besides paywalls are only good for only letting the people in who want to know your opinions. The rest of us know your opinions are just that and would prefer facts.

    Yes Apple is suing HTC and motorola, over android.

    that way Apple can sue over both hardware and software patents.

    I like many things apple," but I really hate the I patented a blue widget lets sue them since they are using a green widget that works the same way mentality"

    my only problem with that method and it is one I am seriously considering, is that I hate the idea of breaking something just to make it useful.

    depending on what Samsung comes out with today(they are due for a tablet announcement today) I will probably go the nook color route myself. I want flash but I will live without it.

    to bad no one else can come close to apple's price though. one would think motorola or samsung could undercut Apple on price, but both of them charge more than apple, and in samsung's case massively more(a 7" tablet at 10" prices)

    um Apple is kicking the crap out of every manufacture on price and you call them greedy? When apple first annouced the price of the ipad every other CEO shit bricks as they were expecting a $1000 price tag from apple and they would be in a good position to undercut on price.

    No one can touch Apple's price points because the factories don't yet exist. In 5 years they will be lower, but it takes time to retool factories.

    maybe you should learn something about economics, before mouthing off what things "should cost" you have no clue.

    I think you just made the point of why tablets are superior than laptops.

    no keys to have food get stuck between meaning you can clean it with a damp towel, instead of expensive canned air(it's even more expensive than bottled water).

    large windfarms would kill off massive bird populations, and large solar farms will deprive the ground of sunlight. Tide farms will disrupt fish swimming.

    The only answer is to kill off everyone but me and the 50 hottest models on the planet. I will keep them alive and we can restart the human population safely.

    Actually you can thank the buildings designers for that. most skyscrapers suffer from updrafts, that could be strong enough to lift 120 pounds. Think about it, that cute secretary in those awesome heels, walks by the open window and gets sucked out of it because the wind shifts just right. It has happened.

    While it is higher the fact is the average employee making $60K their employer has to shell out $30-35K more for that employee.

    that 40% isn't all benefits but things like unemployment taxes for the state, etc. yes 401k contributions are there as well, but that is maybe $5k(and more likely less) out of that $40k.

    Just because you earn $60k doens't mean your company stops paying at $60k EVERY employer has to pay taxes on the fact that they HIRED you. those taxes cost companies 20-35% more than the salary of the given employee. It is why CEO's take small salaries and huge bonuses, because it saves the company money(and they are greedy too)

    I don't want a nanny state. No one has offered a better option yet. Right now the number of iphone viruses out there only attack jail broken phones. For Android which never get updates(something like 80% of android phone models never get updates) because the manufactures don't care once they have your money. You then become reliant on programmers who don't care that you have a mid level phone, since they don't have it it doesn't matter.

    As for liability, independent developers on XDA don't care. the moment you flash on new firmware your warranty is voided and you took responsibility for any and all problems in the future. If I was HTC, or Motorola I wouldn't bother with the expensive lock downs. I would build a small text file that only wrote when the system was flashed, and write down version numbers. a simple reader and anyone who flashes the file with version numbers other than what you published is denied all warranty. That way tinkers can tinker but if they fuck up it is their own fault.
