"I would compare it to giving officers an X-ray eyesight, where they could see through clothes - presumably to search for weapons. This helps in creating the class of enforcers who are legally and physically stronger "
seriously either up or cut the dose because there's no connection between helmet cams and super strength x-ray vision traffic wardens.
and claiming that police aren't accountable? you clearly have no conception of what goes on in the day of a police officers life. ALL they do for a large part of the day is justify themselfs and fill out paper work, due in most part to whingers like you.
The only valid point you made was that the camera remmebers everything they see where their own memory would not. which is NOT a bad thing - it means court cases won't turn into your word against theirs.
how is this an invasion of privacy? they are doing this in a public place, anyone could do the same with their own camera's. personally i much preffer this to camera's mounted high on light poles which can be controlled remotely and aimed right at your window, filming 24/7
"I'm sure nobody cares about you littering or antisocially behaving;"
bullshit, do you mean you don't care about the streets beeing filled with rubbish or kids spray painting yout front door with crap? because i sure fucking do. and this has ZERO privacy problems. it's only filiming what the officer can SEE anyway, so even if he is spying on you there will be video evidence to bust his arse with later. video cuts both ways you know.
my only regret is that other countries can't be more like singapore where the police can deal out on the stop caneings for littering, and where they televise repeat offenders being forced to pick up rubbish.
i would love someone to start a paypal account with the intention of paying out the account to who ever nails jack thompson with a cream pie. hell i'd donate $5 to that as long as they also promise to post the video alllll over the internet.
why the hell are you advocating a lower standard of living? we should ALL be trying to claw our way to the top. it's fine to say money isn't everything, but when it comes to employment money is 50% or more of the reason to do it. sure i COULD get a job and stop begging on the street, but then i'd be a money grubbing whore for wanting more then a cardboard box to live in, because thats what my parents lived in. thats your reasoning.
claiming it's 9 months work is a fucking crock of shit. the submitter must still be in highschool and actually believe when he has holidays the teachers do as well.you'll be working a 50 - 60 hour week for 30k is more like it.
and what happens with the stuff that doesn't? can you request your money back or ask for technical support because your trying to use linux? checkmate, i win. the distro that can focus 100% on getting everyday useage right will win IMHO
it's rediculous to suggest such a practise will be accepted by the masses, thats my point. until basic basic shit like this works without a problem, pushing the linux desktop is a wasted effort.
yes because that's what poor indians who can't afford windows are going to do, play quake 4 on thier $500 video cards which they also can't afford, you fucking retard.
there are not enough people with fast enough internet and HD displays capable of taking advantage of it to make the advertising revenue work for it. most likely you'll see it as an expensive premium service a select few will adopt. so no, you won't be rid of those cable bills.
i've always had a problem with contests like this for many reasons.
firstly i promise it'll have a clause in it stating they will own your idea's and submissions.
In addition, employers like this like the breed this idea that you will need to accept any terms and any pay they offer because clearly they are doing you a favour.
employment is not a favour, it's an arrangement. your labour and idea's are VERY valuable. without people these companys make nothing, always remmeber that.
they want to create this artifical environment of competition to make people think it's a priviledge to work for them or something? people, it's a highly competitive employment market - and i mean for employers, not you. they need to be begging you for the chance to explain why you should want to work for them, not the other way around.

helping people doesn't give you the same self rightous grandstanding platform to preach down to people as moral crusading does.

it's more then likely.your applying logic to someone who is irrational at the best of times. he likened people sending him flowers to death threats.

pfft no they don't. i paid for a license to use windows, i gave no such permission that ms may alter my desktop or gather data WITHOUT my permission.
what you just said scares the SHIT out of riaa - the idea that bands will wake up to that fact they don't need them anymore due to the digital age.
RMS is that you? or are you just another zealot who believes not having the gpl on my mp3 player will steal my babies and put me in jail?

i bet my millions that it's THEO, the iron fisted overlord of openbsd
who wants to fuck around doing all that just to play some mp3's or print a letter? thats why windows wins.
if he did, good for him, if he didn't he just like every other lieing software house out there.
1. it's much cheaper then ore since you don't need to dig it out of the ground. 2. there ARE million ton piles of the stuff. 3. please hit alt+F4 now.
pathetic people, this kind of thing doesn't hurt bill gates, it destroys the local legitimate companys.

it's a gimmic. without fail there is an adult pulling the strings in these things.
everything under MS is misleading the consumer into beliveing it's associated with microsfot al la lindows

the irony here is that you must have looked to post that, so this must be your own sad way of admitting your homosexuality
