    i don't think they can be dangerous in any kind of practical way as long as they don't posses more advanced technology. the vast distance will keep both of us comfortable and not feeling threatened. even if they launched a nuclear strike, we'd know what direction to look for it and have a decade to respond.

    some of these arguments often sound plausible until you examine the mechanics for life. water for instance, has unique properties not shared by any other compound - the ability to be neutral, liquid at reasonable temps and be able to transport other elements. the same goes for carbon. nothing else is going to be able to put together a tangible life form.

    if we didn't have cheap electronics, they wouldn't have a job and would be working the fields. why do you think they all flock to these jobs? because working the fields is a hell of a lot worse.

    intent is where TPB crosses this line imho. google bot just index's everything, where these guys purposely set out to create a list of infringing downloads.

    i'm sure you could muddy the waters plenty, but at the end of the day illegal downloads are what TPB is all about.

    well, as the cells age it has to work harder and harder to find cells that are working to write on. probably involves some kind of write then test scenario, and the more times it has to rewrite data due to bad cells the slower it gets to complete a singe write.

    short memory you have there. before MS started working on silver light a decent flash player on linux was but a pipe dream. say what you want about them, but anything MS takes an interest in ends up with savage competition that benefits us all.

    metal conduit is the only thing that will stop them if you have a bad infestation. you won't ever get rid of them and still conduct normal operations at this point.

    forget about out smarting them, rats are not only better adapted, they are also extremely smart and seem to have a sixth sense about danger. put a rat trap down and once one has had it's neck snapped the others spidey sense will tinge when they see one.

    because they are planning to just give away 23 billion of it as hand outs, most of which i'm betting will be spent on booze/drugs/smokes/pokies? companies have a business plan that's going to make a return when they loan money, our government just spent 10billion on that stupid xmas bonus and they can't even say with certainty it saved a single job long term.

    i'm not buying that without some kind of credible link. to my knowledge Costello paid off 100 billion in debt after the last labour government,and it took 10 years to do it. as for petrol, you were paying excise which is levied by STATE governments, which were all labour most of howards term. The same goes for stamp duty on houses - state government levied (and yes i have purchased a house). you never paid GST on milk, it was exempt as an essential food item just like fresh fruit,veg and preventative items like condoms http://www.ato.gov.au/businesses/content.asp?doc=/content/13287.htm

    as for PAYG, or income tax, we are all paying less tax than ever before thanks to the previous government. Costello lowered the top tax bracket from 68% at 50,000 to 48% at 127,000. the lower brackets had even larger cuts.

    yes things like hospitals were left up to private enterprise to expand, i used to work in the medical industry and i can say both private AND government run hospitals are a shit fight. i don't really think more money from the government is going to fix it, it's going to take a reversal of peoples attitudes.
