With all the news coming out apologizing for lying about what happened, editing the 911 call to make Zimmerman look racist, publishing photos of Trayvon when he was 12 rather than the 6'1 17-yr-old he was, fact that Zimmerman was injured that night and the police believed it was self-defense, witnesses saying Trayvon was beating Zimmerman, I really don't think they'll be able to find 12 people to agree Zimmerman's guilty, someone is always going to believe Zimmerman was defending himself.
Unless they have a clear video showing Zimmerman executing Trayvon while he was eating skittles, it's pretty clear they're doing this just to satisfy public outcry.
More likely it'll be used as a way to get out of contracts.
Don't have the $$$$$ for going over your minutes/data/text?
Don't want to pay a $$$$$ early termination fee?
"OMG My phone was stolen! I didn't download XYZ apps! I didn't use XX gigabytes of data! I didn't send XXXXX txt messages or make XXXXXX phone calls!"
Letting a character you are playing in a game have the option to pursue a same-sex relationship within that game is not forcing anything on you. Get over it.
You didn't read parent. Like I said if you want your character to be in a same sex relationship that's fine, it's your character. I'm more concerned with the games that have shown explicit men and women sexual relationships but instead being men on men. Yes, those games were marked Mature, but none of them said exactly how "Mature" they would be. Mature covers a huge range.
Am I a bigot homophobic because I do not want to watch men on men? Am I homophobic because I want a character that is straight?
Nothing is being forced on you. For example, I'm not aware of any games in which the player character is forced into a homosexual sixty-nine (unless you count certain Japanese games, but they tend not to get a release here).
Do characters within games have homosexual experiences, yes. Do player characters within games receive homosexual advances, yes.
Do you have to participate? Not as far as I'm aware, no.
That's not forcing anything on you, that's reflecting the reality around you within the game. Homosexuality exists.
Shit, you'll be complaining next that I'm forcing transgenderism on you by playing a particularly cute and attractive female bounty hunter on SWTOR.
Existing is not "forcing their sexual preference on others". We're not talking about RAPE here. We're talking about human beings simply existing in life, like anyone else, with the same rights and responsibilities as everyone else... and not having to jump through hoops to hide in order to avoid offending your delicate and ridiculous sensibilities.
This is not existing. Story is about games that have a "surprise" explicitly gay relationship in the main storyline. Games that... weren't marketed as having a gay story line.
I shouldn't have to jump through hoops to not watch two guys have butt-sex
wow... i'm... speechless, by the flamebait rating. No one forces people to see heterosexual relationships, but they should have to play games and watch movies that.... oh look, guys having sex! Funny, previews didn't mention this, box/poster didn't say a word, and yet.... it's there.... and your justification is that since a man and woman are having a relationship in the movie/game that i should have to watch two guys going at it?
....and apparently moderators love it.... says a lot about/. i suppose......

if a person wants to mod their game or do whatever to enable it that's on them and I completely support that, but i don't think it should be forced on everyone, that's not really right.
I was modded down so apparently mods don't agree with me, which means someone *does* think it is right to force their sexual preference on others, which is, just, shocking, to me
I'm.... divided, on this. Gay marriage is fine and I support equal rights, but I really don't want to be playing a game and suddenly obi-wan and skywalker start making out....
is there some sort of middle ground? I mean, if someone wants their game character to be in a same sex relationship that's fine, it's their game, but if it's part of the story line that is exposing me to things I really don't wanna see.... i don't think that is ok, and the game should make that clear before purchase.
same with adult sites, i hate it when they lump everything together. There will be pics of girls, girls and guys, girls and girls, and suddenly there's a thumbnail of two guys.... wow.... really didn't wanna see that. *close site*
I know, i'm probably alone in thinking this and will be marked troll/flamebait but.... i don't wanna see it
Yeah, I'm not sure why they were fighting it in the first place. Did they want him to put retired astronaut? I could see that, but to say he wasn't a astronaut at all is wrong.
that... is genius. Every student brings their own device, and the teacher can pull up lesson materials on website the kids can access through any internet enabled device. They can probably also access the website from home or library, and parents could be sent a syllabus like college professors hand out at the beginning of the school year.
This makes sense, and kids are using technology like they will when they enter college and the workforce.
Sorry, this has nothing to do with the post above me, but the instead the parent of the parent of the.... you get the idea, but if I replied to it this message would be at the bottom of the page and no one would see it.
So there you have it, your children can not use computers at home because some children do not have home computers and that is such a sensitive subject that the word has been banned from school tests.
I should add: The downside of the Livescribe pen for science conferences is that if you have audio recording on all day, the battery is likely to run flat by the end of the day, unless you recharge at lunchtime. The battery is fine if you only want to record written notes, so I tend to switch on audio recording only for the important talks.
Livescribe is fine, but if you want a $100+ device you'll be able to use more than once, I recommend a Fujitsu p1620 or Dell Latitude XT
Both dual core, both tablets, similar resolutions at 1280x768/800, but p1620 has a smaller screen, 8.9", and weighs less, ~2 lbs, and is almost the exact same size as a iPad, just thicker. p1620 battery is in the front and is easily swappable, and Fujitsu sells a multicharger for it so you can charge two batteries simultaneously while using a third. Resistive screen, uses a digitizer or your fingernail, and I can confirm clicking links and opening programs works rather well with a fingernail.
Latitude XT is larger and heavier, ~4 lbs, but the 12" screen is multitouch so you can use your fingers, great for Windows 8 when it's released. But the best part about this tablet is the available external extended "slice" battery which is basically a 2nd battery that docks to the entire bottom of tablet. You should get an additional 6-8+ hours of real world usage with the slice battery, and the slice battery can be charged separately, so you could leave one charging while using another one, and being an external battery the laptop does not need to be shutdown to swap allowing you to leave the laptop on continuously forever as long as you kept swapping the external battery.
I have both tablets and they both serve their purposes, XT for all day use with external battery, p1620 for maximum portability since it's much smaller and lighter. The Dell Latitude XT can be had for about $300 from Dell and the Fujitsu p1620 is around $200 on ebay.
Sounds like a grab to boost G+'s userbase beyond Wil Wheaton and Google engineers.
no, it's far worse than that: Google is creating a "ghost" profile by mining your youtube, gmail, searches, android phone, etc, and they're going to tell you whenever your friends and family do something by emailing you, etc, to compel you to login to the ghost profile they created for you.
So much for "don't be evil". This sounds about as evil as it gets, stealing your data and subscribing you up for a service you never wanted.
Well you could do it on your own just as you described. Make it as fancy or as simple as you like..........Or you could call a local installer (or multiple) to come out and do a site survey using similar tools, and to give you a bid.
See, his question is confusing, because he wants to know "what I can do on my own in terms of placing a few individual cells and.....measuring and recording their output...." but then didn't think to google "USB voltmeter" which, clearly, would be the simplest method of "measuring and recording" the output from the solar cells.
So my question is this: how is he going to have the knowledge to install solar panels correctly but not have the knowledge to google "USB voltmeter"?
I feel like I just gave a 3-yr-old a loaded weapon.... hope he doesn't electrocute himself
If you want a good back-of-the-envelope measurement and don't trust the solar guys, why not just buy a cheap time-lapse camera, set it to record every half hour or so, and check the solar coverage on the images of some representative days?
That was my thinking, except forget the camera, go straight for the PC. Run the electrical cords into the house and hook up a cheap USB voltmeter to your PC. I would contact that website with what you're trying to do and ask if their USB voltmeter would be suitable for your experiment.
Right, and if all you need is a few dozen drives, it's probably not worth it. Let's talk when you need to backup 12 TB every night and you can only recycle the tapes yearly. Two drives and 1800 tapes is cheaper than 1800 drives, and until convinced otherwise I believe the tapes will take the time in storage with a better chance of coming back to life.
Tape isn't for days of storage, it's for archival.
And... how many people, need that? To store 12 TB nightly? Few thousand businesses, perhaps? Not even your super-geekiest nerd is storing 1,800 tapes a year.
There was a time when you could easily purchase a computer designed for home or SOHO usage with a tape drive. Not anymore. Tape has pushed itself out of the SOHO market and into corporate world only. You can't even buy a tape drive in stores anymore, and no wonder when a 72gb drive costs $600+
Tape is still dead. Long live hard drives for storage... or the cloud
I've missed my tape drive! My TR-3 1.6/3.2 circa 1996, was plenty for the hard drives available at time and pretty much a requirement for Windows 95 considering how often it killed itself, but within just a few years the hard drives far exceeded the capacity of tape. Fortunately by then Windows 2000 was out and life has been good since.
You're comparing to the previous gen Nook.. The Nook Tablet has a dual core 1GHz CPU, and 1GB of RAM, while the Kindle Fire only has 512MB of RAM. The Nook Tablet also has a microphone, so you can use skype, and it has a Micro SDHC slot. It also costs $50 more, which may be the approximate value of those add-ons. There's pros and cons for either one of them.
The lack of additional memory is what kills the Kindle Fire for me. Apple can get away because app creators know memory is limited so they feel pressure to try and keep apps as small as possible, but most Android tablets have SDHC slots capable of 32gb so hey, why not allow a little bloat? And 8gb? What is this, 2008? My 2009 smartphone has more internal memory.
The fact they're trying to sell a 8gb tablet with no memory slot for more than $100 in 2012 is insulting.
But seriously if anyone buys any of these tiny tablets they better get a lot of use out of them because by 2020 we'll be looking at the Nook and Fire the same way we now look at a PalmPilot... 8mb? b&w? IRDA? wow..... how did we live..... O_O
I thought about it...but it has no 3G, 4G or the like capability...no bluetooth...only wifi.
Not sure what it would be that good for.....
You mean, like, nearly every other tablet available?
It's not a phone that you'll be carrying around in your pocket and need to whip out at a moment's notice and look up (IMPORTANT_INFO), tablets are usually used at a) home (wifi) b) work (wifi) c) coffee shops (wifi) d) school (wifi) e) etc (wifi)
Get it? Tablets are essentially laptops with more portability, they're what laptops were to desktops circa 2001
Honestly I don't get the point of 3G in a tablet.... I mean, why? Where do you use a tablet that doesn't have wifi available? Only thing I could think is airports and airplanes, but even there you could share your smartphone's 3G connection over wifi, so again.... why does a tablet need 3G?
Microsoft reached a billion in 1990. And that's back when it was a different world, there were no (very few) hard drives, no (very few) "laptops", no smartphones, no (well, almost no) internet, and very few people owned a PC. Reaching a billion considering all those factors against them is amazing.
A billion is a great first step and something to be proud of, but I'd say it's still waaay too early to be saying "I TOLD U SO!" You've been out since 1994, reaching 1 billion after 18 years is... well, expected.
35 miles on battery, with gasoline to get you the rest of the way with a Volt, vs 50 miles on battery in Nissan Leaf before you're stranded.
hahahaha you reposted a gawker link, YHBT, HTH, HAND.
In typical terrain the Leaf will make 70 miles or better.
Oh thanks for your links, the evidence is very compelling so I'm sure you're right. Let me guess, is 70 miles or better what the EPA or manufacture claims the Leaf will get? Because we all have vehicles that get exactly the gas mileage that the manufacture and EPA said the vehicle gets, right?
The Gawker link links to posts from Leaf owners claiming their mileage of 50 miles before the battery is dead. Can the Leaf get 70 miles or better? I'm sure it's possible, just like my laptop could get 10 hours battery life and my smartphone could last 2 days without charging, but I'm more interested in what other people actually get, real world usage, not some best case scenario, because life is not a best case scenario.

How many popular games had shown explicit sexual situations between a man and woman? God-of-war, the GTA series, etc, and sometimes it's a movie or storyline you can't skip through. iPad is high tech? Saint Louis has a .com church. Here it is on Google Maps, the actual name of the church is faithchurchstlouis.com.
They operate in an abandoned warehouse that use to be an indoor go-kart track before they moved in.

Obviously you do not work in or have significant experience in the private sector.
Private sector is.... wait for it..... private. If a private company tells their 5 employees not to shake hands with Asians, that's on them.
But when the government does it? That's when there's a problem.
