It also gets more complicated when cities are allowed to be dry in the middle of a wet county, or townships are allowed to be dry in the middle of a wet city and county.
From Wikipedia: "Three states, Kansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee, are entirely dry by default: counties specifically must authorize the sale of alcohol in order for it to be legal and subject to state liquor control laws."
I don't believe there are any states that are actually completely dry.
:( I used to live in a dry county. God, that was awful. I wish I could buy liquor on Sundays, though.:(
They're the same little pieces of crap falling off that led to the crash of Columbia. If NASA knows that the insulation tearing off the body of the shuttle caused the crash of one shuttle don't you think it's just a LITTLE important for them to research how to stop that from happening?
are you daft? Your comparisons make absolutely no sense. Society progresses through the realization of past mistakes, and no, the enslavement of Africans was a matter of societal ethics.
All matters of morals and ethics is subjective to the times you live in, as I see this as horrible, but people in the south pre-civil war saw it as perfectly normal and essential to their way of life. This has absolutely nothing to do with mp3 sharing/pirating, stop making absurd comparisons.
before refuting it. "Depriving people of income" is worlds away from slaughtering Jews. No matter what personal morals a person may have, most people follow the code of ethics dictated by society. This includes the shunning of those who would kill others, but is a little fuzzy on things such as stealing things electronically. When the imposed societal morals catch up with the times, maybe then everyone will share the same views on mp3 sharing, but right now, this falls under personal morals, not the umbrella of the ethics of society.
yeah, if someone other than the RIAA sets the rate:) no one said they WOULD set the rate at 25 cents an mp3, and i have no faith that it would be that cheap... but you're right, that's the previously-mentioned rate, you want a cookie?
why don't you just put the mp3's onto your computer after buying the cd? that's legal:) as long as you've bought the cd and don't share it, you can have the file on your computer -- not that i'm not sharing my mp3's at the moment......
Something tells me that outside of university dorms, internet access is going to be overpriced for a long long time.
yes, university dorms maybe...
i live in a residential high school, and shell out $100 per 9-weeks for a T-3 connection that 200 students plus distance learning uses! not only that, but because of the enormous bandwidth usage of the students during the distance learning hours, they shut down the internet during classroom hours! so i pay for what exactly?
before the recording industry, piracy ran rampant... do you know the names of the artists (off hand) of folk songs? i know i don't. people used to just make music and shared it with everyone. a person would hear a song they liked and would sing it or perform it themselves for another audience for enjoyment. music wasn't an occupation, really, it was something everyone enjoyed mutually in their free time.
sure, i hate folk music and these days high-quality recordings take money, but think about it...

If you have to ask you can't afford it, lol! I don't read other peoples comments, so I post this for a forth time!
yeah, that one too.....
the sims' appeal was never that it was realistic. it's just fun to screw around with mindless pawns... much like the appeal of lemmings :)
nuff said...

For great justice! What you say!

Or the corporations already do whatever they want and say they're following with the 'oh-so-great' democracy
umm... funds terrorism? i was under the distinct impression that we weren't paying for anything...
