  1. Re:Serious drugs... on SCO Might Sue Linus for Patent Infringement? · · Score: 0

Hallucegenic drugs cause brain damage. You should enjoy life more or/and read the bible.

Thats where the mentally addictive part of those drugs comes from - You become less mentally aware, but you don't notice it because you're drugged. You come out of it, the world seems so boring because your brain is no longer functioning as well, you take more of the drug so you don't notice it.

Stop using drugs for awhile. The world won't seem so boring when you start to think clearly again. It might also be noted the historically large number of religions and even intelligence agencies that have used these type of drugs to control their victims. Does anyone really want to see anyone publicly support drugs, wondering if the poster is a victim or trying to make victims?

  2. Someone should complain to the IRS on Microsoft's Software Philanthropy: The Goodwill Ploy · · Score: 0

"I don't say this because I'm biased against proprietary software, I say this because the software has no resale value for the NPO"

Since Microsoft licensing prevents the non-profit from reselling the software, someone should complain to the IRS because it obviously doesn't have the loss deduction that Microsoft will claim for it.

If it does, then the charities should resell the $400 dollar office suit, buy a computer and load openoffice.org on it.

  3. More positive idea on Counterfeiting With High Resolution Inkjets · · Score: 1, Insightful

A more positive idea would be an electronic exchange/barter 'currency' widely used that would replace the centralized fiat paper money system we have now. This would have a lot of benefits, not the least of which would be to create more wealth for the common man and move power away from the centralized banking system.

Not a lot of work seems to be being done on this,
although it is clearly within reach now. You could even barter your open source programing skills to businesses who needed special features.

I remember discussing this idea online on usenet 7-8 years ago, and having someone from the federal reserve saying it would never work, so the idea itself seems to have reached the ears of the banking system. Its a shame no one seems to be putting much work in it though. There were a lot of mastercard online debit and electronic cash systems going up before the dot.com bust, but none really set up with a barter system backing in mind.

  4. Linux exists? on Do You Know UNIX Secrets? · · Score: 0

I was reading an article on another site bemoaning the things that IBM was denying to know in its brief, the gist of which was Linux itself.

This is actually to Linux's advantage. When SCO is forced to admit that Linux is a kernel and not a complete operating system, it will have to drop the allegations against what really is Linux.

The faster that happens, the better. The harm is in disparaging the trademark name Linux, which most people associate with the whole operating system. It isn't, and forcing SCO to remove that allegation keeps the name pure.

  5. Unix the Myth on Do You Know UNIX Secrets? · · Score: 0

SCO alleges that Unix is an animal that can only be touched by a pure virgin. While a noble ideal, when has to question how SCO can claim the Unix at all.

And for proof that something is going on here, I ask you to look at the GNU creature.

hmm. The internet "like we know it" is never going to die. Even if mass media/television dominated the internet, the relatively low bandwidth things we have done for years would still be around, ie irc, usenet, boards, text, &ct. It may change, but the old stuff will be the same. Besides, the great hope is when people start entertaining themselves instead of going to some top500 corporation to do it. Bring back the home bands and the church and school plays.

I noticed that it said on the website that it wouldn't be linked to the internet. I assume this is because standard TOS for end-users with broadband prevent this. With the number of people required to complete a coast to coast link, maybe they should just chip in and buy a T1 access point on either coast.

Pot smoking causes brain damage. It used to be and has been used in all types of mind control/mental zombie type religions along with the other psychedelic drugs. The US government has even experimented with it as a "truth" drug.
