There are many NGOs building up skills so that the locals can learn to become technicians to assemble the solar lights, cookers, chargers, ect... using the basic raw materials - which also has the added benefit of providing employment and ensuring sustainability. When things break down, you need someone in the village who has the spare parts and know-how to fix it.

The only thing that reduces population is education. Those who are better educated have fewer children. Being able to study after dark increases one's odds to further their education. It's not rocket science.

You still sound like a moron though.

Not that this matters to most people, as they are too obese, entertained, and in debt to notice.

....and what has Obama done about any of this? He extended tax cuts to the richest 2% and pushed the football a little farther down the line. Given all of this, perhaps it makes sense to continue subsidizing a fuel additive that actually damages engines, more fuel for the fire.

You make some good points. I think the main problem that the great powers are dealing with, the United States and China, is that for there to be an information based society, based on high technology and commerce... well it becomes very difficult to censor all dissent when the global economy is becoming increasingly unbalanced. Traditionally democratic countries are suffering economically, while those with few democratic ideals find their economies booming. This is a recipe for further crackdowns and more FUD from all sides.

Also, I don't quite understand how COMMERCIAL services such as Twitter and Facebook are the new bookends for protecting freedom.... they are just companies providing a ruse to gullible users while they pilfer their most personal details for financial gain.
