There is a limitless supply of pirate wannabes, and there is a limited supply of relatively cheap boats for the pirates to use. Far better to target the kingpins, organizers, and financiers of piracy. The facts are, the pirates have better funding.
"Standard Gauge is thin. Standard Gauge is beautiful. Standard Gauge goes anywhere and lasts all day. There’s not right way or wrong way. It’s crazy powerful. It’s magical. You already know how to use it. It’s 11,500 miles of track and counting. All the worlds” interchanges in your hands. It’s 4 ft. 9 in., standard. More rail than you could ride in a lifetime. It’s already a revolution and it’s only just begun."
The Courier was DOA. As a concept it is interesting, but as a functioning device it would be barely usable. What would the battery-life/weight ratio be for a two screen device? How would the interface adapt to both right and left handed users? What about durability? Is there really an advantage to having two smaller screens as opposed to a single one?
As for natural feel....cavemen were writing on tablets tens of thousands of years before books were invented. How about scrolls? Even those are more durable than 'books'....
When iPad 3 or iPad 4 has a retina screen with an even faster processor, speech recognition (along with longer battery life, thinner, lighter...) it will be even more durable.
I think they could bring to the next level though. Tree seeds! The world needs more forests, clearly. Although I fear that implanting walnut seeds or pine-cones may too drastically affect the aerodynamics of the sneaker. But at least it would be for a good cause.
There are half a dozen middle east countries currently working on building nuclear reactors, the situation will be quite different in ten years. The USA isn't going to protect you guys forever, why not make peace?
For now I think the US will do all it can to support the NEW Egypt. American companies have a rare opportunity to show their goodwill and do more business with Egypt. Most of the top American companies already have headquarters in Egypt, like Google, Microsoft and others.... Restoring good business ties will strengthen democracy. Sounds better than shady deals for military technology meant for terrorizing citizens.
That is Canon's problem for not keeping their drivers up to date. Apple put a large HP Printer driver package on their downloads page a while ago and that works for the majority of printers, so I don't know what Canon's problem is. I also had an older HP scanner and the drivers were not available. I ended up buying a new scanner. Hopefully it will last me a few years.
Go figure, Preview works like butter in Mac OS X, yet the latest version of Adobe Reader is sluggish and jaggy while rendering the SAME PDF. You know, if it were not for Steve Jobs speaking out on Flash, Adobe wouldn't be doing anything to improve the performance/security of their software.
The conspiracy of those in power enables them to control the status quo. Expose the conspiracy of those in power and common citizens have the possibility to change the system (they gain the knowledge of the conspiracy and are empowered by that knowledge).
If however those in power create a conspiracy upon an individual, they gain power over them and are able to silence them, imprison them, and otherwise dispose of them until they are no longer a threat to the greater conspiracy.
Assange has a wacky way of seeing the world, but it makes sense once you untwist the terminology he uses. A healthy Democracy can only continue to exist as long as a majority of its citizens have sufficient knowledge of what their leaders are doing and are able to hold them accountable.
The internet does not recognize geographic borders. If China ends up having the most internet users and they remain part of the main internet (if they don't go and create internet 2) then we will need a new open standard to create webpages than can traverse different languages with ease. I certainly don't have the time to learn Chinese;)
In ten years time we will have perfected translation software to instantly translate the major languages on the fly with almost perfect accuracy.
I work in the middle east and EVERYTHING written has to be translated into Arabic and English. What this means at the moment is that good translators are in high demand (of which there are not nearly enough).
The Apps that you install on an idevice are not made by Apple and they all come with user agreements when you install them (not that anyone reads them).
Does Apple give the pretence of privacy? If you only used the default Apps that came with the iPhone, you would probably be at little risk of losing your personal data (excluding the included Google apps of course).
IMO I think Apple has always cared about user's security, just look at how secure Mac OS X is --- sure there are exploits, but it's nothing like what the typical windows user faces.
TIMO the greater danger is the loss of Net Nutrality under the pretence of anti-terrorism measures around the world. Even Blackberry had to beg on their knees to foreign governments to allow them to keep operating if they gave them access to their data.
IMO I'm serious about my Identity - I have no Facebook or Twitter, and use aliases and bogus info for all my login accounts.
Inbed Identity chips into all citizens so that scanners can keep track of where you are. Actually, they already do this with pets....
Sure it sounds scary now, but just wait until Google partners with Facebook and Twitter: Now with FREE tracking chip integration (with maps, streetview, always on live augmented reality!) Get chipped today!
How are poor rural people supposed to build a coal power plant? Just like cell-phone towers are able to leap-frog technologies and provide ICT solutions to remote places, solar power provides the possibility to be independent from the government and promote sustainability.
Solar panels are also being used to sterilize drinking water, cook, and even more exciting - provide refrigeration. Many batches of vaccines in the past have gone bad because of lack of refrigeration. Refrigeration also helps to preserve food nutrition.

Run out of silicon?????
OK but.... wirelessly sending the movie form your iPad to your hi-def TV is decidedly more cool and useful.

an entire decommissioned iron mine in an undisclosed location in northern Canada is devoted to MILF porn.
I better work on my cardio...

It looks like a piece of junk. Bring on the iPad 2.0!

Character assassination is so much easier than dealing with the truth!

Everyone will sign up!
The more we mine them, the less rare they will be. Doesn't this defeat the purpose? .... ;)
Or any number of other kinds of mini-computers. Smartphones are becoming very popular in Sub Saharan africa.
You live up to your namesake. ;)
