How did the printing press become so widespread anyways? There is still a tremendous amount of physical labor involved in setting it up to stamp out pages.
I don't know anyone who has ever used, is using or ever will use AOL. I don't see why anyone would want all that bloat and the limitations and cripplings that it has. It can't be that good if they have had to come out with 9 versions of their software. That amount of releases is on par with the number of release that any given linux distro has which is not a good thing. My 2C.
You think that they would simply let the electronic copies degrade? ha. There are always multiple copies on different types of media which are updated as necessary. As well, we'll be saving a lot of trees if we cut down the use of newspapers. Though, all the delivery boys will have to find new jobs. Also, the biggest issue that this will solve is that of those stupid flyers I get with every newspaper, I hate those things, they are far worse than spam, actually requiring physical effort to dispose of, the real spam.
I am the opposite. I use the computer for hours every day without any problems at all. I also have my monitor set 17" at 1280*1024@85hz and sometimes a second 14" at 1024*768@60hz. I haven't had my eyes hurt at all. Yet, when I read a book my eyes go into shock as they begin to pool with blood from staring at the paper. The other notable thing is that when I read a book I always have my head at an awkward angle and end up with my neck hurting my seriously. If you do have eye problems with the computer, sit back from the screen atleast 2 feet and look away from the screen whenever you feel everything else in the room begin to zone out as you get tunnel vision. Anyways, I never read the never read the newspaper for the news, only the comics. For the news I read the source we all know and love, the almight:/.
Using the LCD on a camera cuts the battery life by more than half and that is a tiny LCD. I can't imagine what a big LCD screen would do. Though it would be cool just walking around with a high quality TV in your hands. At least it beats those old portable 3" b/w CRT tvs.
This is gonna be great if it is anything like the EMP. Can't wait to see it and go there and see all the sci fi stuff. The whole museum should be designed like a space station or ship. Gonna be interesting to see what they come up with.
When are we gonna have the chips implanted in our brains so that we cna just think the tv on and so for or just have the signal beamed right into our head. The physical remotes are just too clunky. Just look at this thing sure it runs linux but its huge and expensive. I am gonna stuck with kick the tv to change channels for now.
Pheonix is a great browser for me cause I am stuck using P2 233 with winnt in my comp sci class with no ie installed. The only issue is that I have to store pheonix on my personal drive which is a max of 48 megs. The pheonix I use is 12 megs which is 1/4 of the space. Conclusion: Pheonix is a great light browser performance wise but it has to be more compressed in terms of size still.
Which floppies you talking about? The small ones aren't really floppy so why do we call them floppies? Anyways the big ones are the real old school coasters and you really need them now as coasters for those 5 liter big gulp drink holders you get at the gas station.
I live in Canada where there is public access for everyone. Every library has a public access computer with internet as far as I know. In addition, the internet used to be government controlled and was only released to the public about 10 years ago. Just to let you know.
Sure I am tired of my spam but its not really an inconvenience, a couple clicks and it is gone. Isn't all this legislation going to start infringing on rights in the future if not now?
If you want highspeed wireless networking just buy some of the at&t microwave bunkers. As a bonus you can have huge w/lan parties and microwave your food free of charge at the same time.
Now that M$ has pledged to support the use opterons everyone else is following suit. At least M$ has that much sense to use its monopoly in a good way.
And odd thing happened to a friend of mine he has had a laser printer for a number of years now and after printing thousands of sheets has not had to replace the toner. The only thing that has gone is the paper tray which can only hold 1 sheet at a time cause it sucks up multiple sheets.
I use to have an HP 660 which only break when my grandpa put in a cartridge backwards and destroyed the cartridges.
I had the worst experience with my Ti-83. It was a bit cold one morning and while using the "Rand" function on the calculator which generates fp(0.2345432) random numbers I got 10 complete "0"s in a row. HTW is that possible?
Superconductors don't produce heat when they conduct electricity as defined, correct? If such a cpu were made out of them then the speed would nearly be limitless only held back by other components. But right now the next thing before superconducting cpus is asynchronous computing so that we can reclaim wasted cpu time.
Also making cpus out of Diamond is quite ironic since current cpus have heat death while diamonds are heat born.
When are we gonna move to asynchronous computing, that will be the biggest change in computer. Also, another interesting thing I thought of yesterday is whne we are gonna move to a system where we are not stuck to a so many bit architecture where we have dynamic bit floats and ints and so forth. my 2Cents
Everyone should have privacy protection hands down, however, the authorities should be stiffer on the penatlies.
Why didn't moore use a P.O. box?
The reason spam has grown to such an epidemic is that there are idiots out there who actually open the spam and then order the products or services that they are offering thus funding and encouraging the spammers to further spam. All we need to do is have some sort of idiot test performed by ISPs. Within the first few days of signing up for internet and logging on the ISP should send an email advertising a product or service that fits the demographics of the user and if the user attempts to order the product or service they should get cut off. That should eliminate the pesky spammers.
The only thing that is useful on yahoo is their mail service. It beats out hotmail by 3 to 1 because of the 6 mb of space that they give you. Other than that I never use yahoo. This article brings to mind the phrase quality not quantity.

how did this happen? a slip in the legal department?

Oh well, we can't all get what we want.
The EMP is named in recognition of Hendrix, come on.
This is gonna be great if it is anything like the EMP. Can't wait to see it and go there and see all the sci fi stuff. The whole museum should be designed like a space station or ship. Gonna be interesting to see what they come up with.

Didn't see the first posting of Sun. That could change things. hmm.

How can anyone use an incomplete cpu without a math coprocessor? That is the heart of the functionality of any cpu.
This is just another example of case fabricated by the DMCA with little legal grounds.

BTW isn't yahoo's search based upon google's?
