Speeding is a problem and while I have no statistical evidence to support my thesis, I believe that speeding a contributing factor in most auto wrecks; even if a drunk is behind the wheel, the propensity of a dangerous collision is reduced as the speed itself is reduced.
What is there to gain from people voluntairly slowing down? Better fuel prices (people will use less of it), lower insurance rates (less speeding tickets, less property/bodily damage), police can spend more time pursuing those involved in more serious crimes so there will be a reduction in those. And, if people regularly drove below the speed limit, the municipalities can increase the speed limit because right now they are forced to make them artificially low since so many people are regularly and habitually ignoring them.
Currently one of the greatest challenges a psychologist faces in these disorders is getting the patient to see that they really do have one and it is impacting them negatively.
A disorder according to whom exactly? The psychologist? Hmmm.... maybe that's anyone that has different beliefs than the shrink his or herself? or perhaps different than society's so-called "convential wisdom".
Institutionalizing methods to persecute someone's beliefs does not lessen the persecution; it only masks the persecution behind a clinical facade to make it appear more legitimate.
I do, too. I've dealt with many psychiatrists and psychologists and I believe the whole mental-health thing is a moronic exercise in futility. The only way to get well is accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior and do what He says to you, not the President, not the leader of the Church down the street, etc. Go into your "prayer closet", close the door, get on your knees and pray to Him. He will hear and answer you.
I read on slashdot somewhere that switching between the two layouts (Dvorak and QWERTY) is easier if you have two styles of keyboards. I suppose that is the case because I do switch between the two layouts fairly often. The dvorak keyboard I use is typematrix keyboard. Rarely will I reach for the wrong key on one of the keyboards but if I don't really think too much about "where the key is" I do fine.
We're all sinners in this world. Becoming a Christian doesn't make one sinless - but hopefully makes them sin less. I'm sorry if your view of Christianity has been skewed by those who don't hold to true beliefs.
Christians are not under the law and as such don't sin. Now, our flesh is sinful (just as everone's was/is except the Lord's), but since we're born of God, our flesh should not be directing our behavior, and anyone born of God does not sin. We're also righteous by faith and not by works of the law.
The earth is but a small part of Creation and man was made of the earth. However, there is a spiritual realm that encompasses the earth and it is in fact more real than the earth itself. Angels are natural creatures of the spiritual realm and because that realm is more real, are able to work both realms (they don't go from one to the other - both realms both exist simultaneously in the same space but most people don't recognize it).
Jesus Christ came into the world via a virgin woman and was composed of the flesh as you and I are. He is, however, God's only begotten Son and the very Word of God. Just as the Father may say, "Let there be light," and light therefore is, so may the Son say, "Pick up thy mat and walk," it is a commandment unto His own creation.
Jesus is not an alien being; He is a "normal" human being (composed of the flesh) but He is God's Only Begotten Son. He died for your sins and rose from the dead on the third day so that by believing in Him you may have eternal life.
The deal is that God created all things from absolute nothing; there is nothing that exists that He did not create. Ponder that for a moment and consider that such things as thoughts are His creation, numbers are His creation, time is His creation, etc. etc. Logic is either one of His creations or something mankind cobbled together using His creation.
I'm often suprised at how many people actually believe they determine their own destinies (with "choices") and seem to look upon those that don't believe this as being fools. We are not God; we are all subject to Him.
On a similar note, I find the idea of proving the existence of God via logic utterly proposterous and somewhat funny: who do you think created mathematics and logic? How can a created tool (e.g. logic) prove the existence of the One that created it?
Hi. Did anyone notice in the photographs that those that have been earthly-killed seem to have strange arm positions? Is that a common sign from a drowning? Does anyone know?
Yours is an interesting point and something similar happened to me. Basically I was tricked by some sons of Belial into not standing fast in the Lord - thus I (accidently) listened to Satan and not to the Lord. I was sorely punished but eventually, after I learned my lesson, was delivered and treated kindly by the Lord.
In Jesus we have a very loving and continual relationship with the Father which is similar if not better than what Adam and Eve enjoyed prior to the fall. However, B.C. we were sort of stuck on the outside with a "Wall of Hostility" between us and God.
And if God tells you to strap on a belt of explosives and slaughter the infidels, well, that's His will and you'd better obey, right?
The Lord has never told anyone to do such a thing. In fact, the closest one to God, Jesus Christ (His Only Begotten Son) didn't take up arms against His agressors but rather submitted and let them beat Him and nail Him to a cross.
If he made us and doesn't owe us anything, then he is not good. I won't kowtow to this evil hypothetical god who carlessly lets most of his creations suffer.
He gives us food, shelter, etc. out of the goodness of His heart. He is not forced to do this but regularly poors out His love upon us regularly.
You go on blindly groveling before your imaginary ghosts. All I can do is encourage you to wake up. I can tell, however, that you're probably hopelessly lost.
I actually do see them with my eyes. They fly around and sometimes fly into me.
He doesn't at all feel that I'm inherently worthless nor does He treat me worse than dirt. He is exteremely kind and gracious to me as He is to all that accept His Son Jesus Christ.
As to finding friends in the here and now - hopefully the Lord shall give me some good friends in due time but the majority of people I meet on the earth, uhm, apparently feel that I'm inherenntely worthless and treat me worse than dirt.
The thing is that God is, well, God. He does whatever He pleases, He creates whatever He pleases, etc. There is little point in arguing with Him. All we really can do is bow down and submit to Him. "Whoever exalts himself will be humbled and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted."
But who are you to talk back to God? Yours is a pompous attitude. God made us. He does not owe us anything. By His Mercy and Grace He has offered salvation by giving us His Son.
Gainning knowledge wasn't the problem... disobeying God's command was.
They listened to Satan and not to God. God said, "In the day of your eating from it surely you shall die." Then Satan came along and said, "Ye shall not
surely die."
They believed Satan's lie, partook of the fruit, and died. Jesus set things right again.
"Abraham believed God and it was reckoned to Him as righteousness." So, as a reward for Abraham's faith, God simply gave (or imputed) him righteousness. Likewise, God gives righteousness apart from works to those that believe in Him. "The righteous will live by faith," etc.
Jesus Christ had compassion on me when no one else did. He is there when I need Him and, yes, He has punished me probably beyond what most people can bare. But He also explained to my what He did, why He did and has been exteremely favorable to me since then.
The wall of hostility that you seem to be referring to is removed in the Lord Jesus Christ. "He that hath seen me hath seen the Father," Jesus (John 14:9)
WTF kind of God is that? Why would he set up such a sadistic system? Is it his idea of some kind of sick joke? Fuck your god. If he exists (which is highly doubtful in the first place), he is a supreme asshole, and deserves nothing but scorn from all of the condemned souls he toys with.
He's actually very kind and deserves our praise and honor.

If Beagle 2 is not too far away perhaps they can set one of the rovers over and take a looksee at it and determine what happened.

Thanx! Its nice to hear a pleasant responce instead of the usual ridicule.

Jesus Christ set us free from the law of sin and death (see Rom 8). Those that are not under the law do not sin.
Of course I do not wish this upon anyone but compared with the record of China, this is a far more tame sentence.
but at least he'll be out (hopefully) in 10 months. Abuses of power are rampant throughout the globe.
