    If I were you, I'd insist on having the "defective" one handed to you, after all, it's your property...

    and you could simply upgrade it by keying in apt-get dist-upgrade after having pointed the source to the latest repository...

    ubuntu warty to ubuntu hoary beta was the sweetest upgrade I've ever done...

    Why would someone waste their money on something like this for a $500 computer? The iPod is a luxury item, and people who buy it can usually afford $30 iPod socks and the like.

    ahh so you think they should be charging more then??? cos by your logic, Apple owners have more money than sense???

    you get a battle of the bootloaders...

    MS-windows knows nothing about Linux... and just installs it's own bootsector wiping out your existing one so you have to use the Linux install disc as a rescue disc in order to get into Linux and restore your bootloader...

    MS-Windows plays nastily... doesn't see your other OSes unless their MS ones, Linux plays nicely and adds menu entries for booting all other OSes it finds.

    personally, I find the best solution is to exterminate any MS-Windows partition you find and give Linux the entire disc... then have your two OSes on separate hard drives and swap them over using a caddy system

    Ubuntu is almost idiot proof in the install process... just accept the default options... and enter a user name and input a password twice... The only real fun comes if and only if you are duel booting and need to manually partition the disks...

    the spammers'll just become more desperate to zombifie ms-windows boxes... the more zombies they've got, the less likely they'll trigger blocking from the ISPs cos they'll only be sending out a few from each rather than masses from a few...

    I'm currently going the other way, from Suse 9.1 to Ubuntu... I tried the hoary live cd and was hooked... now I've got warty on a spare machine getting used to it before I commit to making all my machines into "Hoary" boxes.

    I'm not sure if that should be taken as a good thing, as in there is so little hunger in Brasil that software licensing exceeds spending on hunger, or if it is a bad thing in that there is so much hunger in Brasil and that the software license fees still outweigh the spending on hunger... perhaps the submitter should have taken a course in logic before positing that daft statement...

    If you really 'need' to invoke a contextual menu you just hold down control and click-- it really isn't that hard, and it probably isnt necessary anyway.

    It is hard for me you insensitive clotz... I've only got ONE hand...

    you forgot the LPs...
    The success of the series encouraged Adams to adapt it into a novel, which was based on the first four Fits and released in 1979. A slightly contracted double LP re-recording of the first four Fits was released in the same year, followed by a single LP featuring a revised version of Fits the Fifth and Sixth.

    hmmm the first programs I ever wrote were in Fortran on punchcards... I had to submit a stack before 4pm in order for it to be run overnight... woe betide me if I got them in the wrong order, I had a simple trick to check quickly... When they were in the right order, I would write a couple of words on the top edge so I could check at a glance that the stack hadn't been shuffled as a prank... 1975, happy memories...
