  1. Robotic guitar? How about robotic groupies? on ArtBots - The Robot Talent Show · · Score: 1

Here they put all this effort into a robotic guitar player with 23 fingers....Where the hell are the robotic groupies? Thats what I wanna know. Will they come with their own STD testing kit? It wouldn't take 23 fingers thats for sure...just a vacume and lots of silly one liners like "You were great." and "Can I hold your guitar?" And in the worst case scenario if it has a stalking feature...it will be alot easier to explain to your girlfriend. What cracks me up about this, is, if its a view into the future, media companies such as the NYTimes requiring you to log-in to read the news are only speeding this process up.

The other problem I see with the approach is, not only is it too much, but all that pirated Microsoft software you get in third world countries won't run on it. Oh wait...hmmm. The I'm sure the Bill and Malinda Gates foundation would support Linx on a cheap box in forigen countries if that was the best solution the people of the world....right?

I just liked the Rush quote. In addition, I think we might see it happen. Intel hasn't yet ever abandoned their 16 x86 roots, so I guess if past predicts the future....But something tells me that eventually, to lower costs, they may eventually make the switch. Seriously...in 5 years will we still see legacy 16 bit support on multiaple core chips?

  5. Re:Outstanding on Microsoft Announces Dividend and Stock Buyback Program · · Score: 1

I think saying that a company is *required* to be unethical inorder to fulfill its obligations to its stock holders is a bit of a streach. But one has to ask, "Does Microsoft really have so much cash and no where to invest it, that they are going to give it away as dividens?" More likely the buyback plan will drive the value up. Then paying dividens makes people want to hold onto their stock driving the price up even more. Well it looks as though Microsoft is behaving un-ethically then. Instead of trying to maximize profit, they are driving the price of the stock up with the few extra billion they have between the cusions of their Executive Chairs. As a stock holder you should be angry. Unless of course you care more about the value of your investment as opposed to maximizing profit....now wait, what were coperations supposed to be doing again? I get confused...maximize profit, increase the value of their company.... Maybe this post is to complex for me.

I can understand why some people would think of Asimov as "The robot guy"...but personally the first work of his I read was 'The Foundation Trillogy' which is robot free. (Or so it seems at least!) Certinaly, that is one of his most famous works and one of the classics of Science fiction. At first people told me 'why don't you read some of his other work that involves robots?" Ahhh, but then people always have lots of input on what I should do.

I don't know if you could consider running quake on a school server hacking really. Especially when the admin is using a password that is their user name backwards. (which incidently is why I probably wasn't suspended...) What I want to know is why, if you leaves your gate open, and a person walks into the back yard as a result, its not considered tresspassing (as oppsed to having no gate being considered tresspassing). Yet if someone leaves their campus network wide open, and someone moves a few CCD cameras its a criminal offense. What damage? Which law? Waaahaha?
