  1. Re:Availability? on T-Mobile May Offer Free Gmail Data Access On G1 Phone · · Score: 1

Yeah, T-Mobile is calling it the G1. I've called two stores and T-Mobile corporate, and nobody knows anything about any phones being available until October 20, not even pre-orders, which I've seen several rumours about starting this week as well.

  2. Availability? on T-Mobile May Offer Free Gmail Data Access On G1 Phone · · Score: 1

Does anybody have any hard data on availability? I have seen several sites state that there will be phones available this week for existing customers, but nobody at T-Mobile seems to know anything.

I recall an A-Team episode where they escaped prison using hot air in trash bags. I was very young at the time, but I've always wanted to attempt this, but the cost of the weather ballons in Edmond Scientific were nothing compared to the cost of the He.

Welpers, I live in a ~1200 population town in SW Washington (State) about 30 minutes from Olympia (State Capitol) and we get 1.5 Mbps down / 768 Mbps up ADSL for $40/month, and this IS one tiny timber town, so some places DO have decent net access even with small populations, also house prices are about 1/4 what they are in 'the city', and Seattle is a 2 hour drive away when I need the 'city fix'. Just my 00000010 Cents :)

Yeah, I'm paying $49 for 512/256 DSL, best I can get here. The cable setups I've worked on locally have almost the same actual speed, and they are paying $70+ for supposed 1/512 which is no faster than my DSL. Argh

  10. Keeping Textbooks on Ripoff 101: Gouging Students for Textbooks · · Score: 2, Insightful

I ended up keeping a VB textbook I paid $90 for, and it turned out I needed to take the previous level class after getting an A in the 'second level VB' course, so I'm glad I didn't burn or toss my text, as it was actually the same text. Also, I've got at least 15 decent books on Unix/Linux, but I was required to buy a $120 textbook that is equal to Unix for dummies, just so I can complete a few moronic exercises for an intro to Unix class :(

more relevant would be the Herbert book "The Green Brain"... Self-Organizing plants and insects become so advanced they are able to mimic the physical appearance of humans.
