    Get real you AC. The real world is a lot more complex than the "utopia" you seem to be in. I was just stating the fact that the choice to use a particular OS is usually dictated by the requirements of the application for a needed system.

    Windows is such crapware, as so many of you think, why don't you guys all get together and write an emergency management system that runs on a Linux distro? Now I obviously don't know for sure, but it seems likely the reason they are using Windows is that their application is written that way. Take a way the need to use Windows before bitching and moaning about them using Windows.

    Agreed. Considering the previous /. article http://tech.slashdot.org/story/10/11/01/1942259/Google-Sues-US-Govt-For-Only-Considering-Microsoft explains that they were only considering MS solutions, not MS as the implementor of said solutions. Google just needs to stop crying when it loses and says MS is evil.

    Have you considered that they may already have a rather large install of ActiveDirectory/Exchange and are basically just wanting to upgrade? Being that the the RFQ wasn't actually linked its kinda difficult to know what it exactly contained.

    There are a lot of consulting firms out there that provide MS only solutions, which is what the DOI is asking for, not that MS being the implementors of said solution.

    I'm not so sure. I work for a K12 with a couple thousand clients, and this makes me nervous. I really hope I can disable the App Store with an MCX setting so teachers/students aren't buying all sorts of crap and installing it the districts computers.

    The neat part, as stated in the article, was the fact that they were dectected a ways out and not last minute, like most of the rest that have gone whizzing by.

    There is a big difference between the two. One was done in a legal action as NATO, the other has questionable legality since the documents that he published were classified.
