    In real life everybody wants to be your whore if you got enough money, no matter what you fail.
    As long as Sony has enough cash, most other companies will supply their services and look the other way when something nasty happens.

    Most of the big brands have a virus scanner/remover running on a Linux powered live CD, I used several to disinfect a friends laptop.

    I think they will make them like that for Linux oriented viruses too...

    Obvious non native English speakers do not understand that "then" is a form of time and "than" is a form of consequence.

    Still I think telling them to go away is quite arrogant since these speakers do make an effort to write English while most native English speakers make no effort at all learning ANY foreign language.

    Oh yes, I am a native Dutch speaker.

    That in the future these kinds of security breaches will be placed anonymous on all downloading platforms if Sony is lucky, otherwise they end up on botnet auction sites and in that case Sony is really fucked up.

    While I support you in ideological sense, the problem is that politicians are not judged on how many money they can save by slicing but by how many jobs they are able to generate.
    Slicing money and jobs is not being perceived as a positive trait by the general public, also these unsafe Windows XP and Server families do generate an army of support personnel, which is seen as something positive.
    I hope you see that reality in politics is often counter intuitive to what ideological makes sense.

    b.t.w. I am a long time Linux user and would not use anything MS even if I were paid for it.

    That is the trouble with most big companies, if you are into politics these places are a great way to spend your days, for all other people it's a nightmare.
    Most awful things are the hypocritical political correctness and the backstabbing that takes place by these so called political correct hypocrites.
    It's an environment where psychopaths thrive.

    It is in the interest of governments to allow monopolies, it is much easier to order 1 big entity to cough up certain needed information or to force them to execute the government plans, than a lot of small entities.

    This revolving door between big corporate US and the government (fascism) is starting to be a real burden on the people, all we have to wait for now is government to draw the wrong cards and finding that in reality their power is more and more subdued by the corporates.

    But then, the people lost already 50 years ago when Ike proclaimed his farewell speech, this is just the final stage of that losing battle.

    It seems you forgot to make a binary safe backup of your database.
    b.t.w. my tip to you is not to trust PostgreSQL either as it like MySQL is a database server, not a backup method.
    You wouldn't have lost your mission critical data if you used rsync to put a binary safe copy on (an)other machine(s).
