I don't think it's juvenile at all. I think it's entirely accurate. Having worked for both American and British companies - the work life balance in American companies is a complete imbalance.
It won't push down the wages of the people this law targets - because I bet you at the moment they aren't being paid for the work at all. Now the companies have a choice - they can either cut off their servers from sending emails out of hours OR they can pay their employees for working out of house.
In the case of the former, the employee will get paid the same and have more time to enjoy themselves
In the case of the latter, the employee will get paid more because it will be over time.
VW already do this with their Blackberry servers, although the state aim was to encourage a better work life balance. I realise this concept is strange to a lot of Americans - but there are companies out there that do this.
At which point HR will look rather closely at your "work related activity" out of hours. At the very least they will just not pay you that over time, and every single hour that you claim after that will be scrutinized. Or they will just fire you for fraud. You might get away with a few hours every month, but "each evening" will earn you the pink slip you deserve.
This is why all the 'bands' these days sound the same. The labels are so risk averse, they are there to only make money - and that means using tried and tested methods/sounds
Depends on your definition of useful art I guess. If you find it useful for the art to drag you to a place of fantasy for 45 minutes (assuming you can block out the adverts every 5 minutes), then it's useful. If you lack the imagination that allows you to immerse yourself in someone else's story, then I guess it isn't useful - and you'd be a very boring person.
I still play SLA industries with my buddies via the net. Skype is a wonderful thing, even though they are on a different continent. Technology can always let you down - last week's games were cancelled after their net connection went down after an hour. Intercontinental phone calls are too expensive when you don't have some kind of calling plan set up. As I only ever Skype to people back home, I've never bothered.
It mostly works. It's better if someone has a digital camera to hand to take photos of the GMs handouts.
You could say the same thing about America and SOPA. After all, rather than the Republicans manning up and getting on with fixing the problems of unemployment, roads etc - they decide now's a good time to f*** over a large chunk of a new sector of their economy. All because an old sector of their economy paid them to - sorry gave them campaign contributions to.
Users always have ways of breaking apps in completely unintended ways. If you can't harden your intranet apps from 'ordinary' users - not sure you've got much hope against malicious intent. Intranet apps should be written as if it were posted on the internet for all and sundry to see and have a go at.
Winamp is still going. I still use it as my main mp3 player on my Windows box, because of the UI being small (though I might need to get new glasses soon). Now when you install it, you can choose the classic, small, uncluttered UI, or you can go for a large button clunky piece of crap. Unfortunately the default option is the large buttoned cluttered piece of crap. I choose the classic design every time.
Wow - a full blown war? Really? So the hackers have been using - what M16s, grenade launchers and IEDs? And the Content Providers have been using nukes?
Please, please, please - will people stop using the word "war" unless real weapons are in use and people are dying.
Then Christians (indeed all religions) should stick to philosophical questions about right and wrong, and stop sticking their noses in matters which do not concern them - such as evolution and the creation of the universe. Religious types have for centuries tried to explain how the universe works, for example the sun going round the earth. They have applied philosophical reasoning to too many things which are not philosophical in nature. And time and again they have been proven wrong. Their reputation for providing answers as to how the universe was created (as an example) is in tatters.
Science as an institute has got it wrong on many occasions, and continues to do so. But we continue to research the important questions in life to gain a better understanding. And then we publish our findings in peer reviewed journals. The last time Christians published something 'new' was 2000 years go, and was hardly peer reviewed!
But you have to pay for it. The beauty of the original BASIC on the platforms in question was that it was free. Anyone who had half a mind to learn how to code, could do it without having to pay a small fortune for it. If you then found you had a more serious need, or talent for it, you could go out and buy something more capable.
It may also stop employees from (ab)using the hotel's internet connection during work house.

Strange that Brazil's economy is improving such that they are now the 6th largest global economy. Guess they feel they can afford it.
I don't understand the finer points of your legal system, seeing as I'm not an American.
If they have a veto proof majority, what would happen if he refused to sign it into law? Does it become law anyway?
That's what half of American does already. The difference is, they don't get the one time fee.

The system relies on people being honest.
Communists!~
No. Just sane people
Worse, he'll get free healthcare courtesy of the US government. Granted he'd get it in the UK, but none-the-less
Your point? *snicker*
Only if you're a Republican looking for a reason to dis Global Warming because your buddies in the Oil industries are paying to say so.
You might want to catch up on the news - there's been a lot of investigation into the emails/evidence tampering etc, and it's all come back clean.

Unless you are fortunate to live in a civilised part of the world with a universal healthcare system.
'Did' implies past tense. When they started MTV was very good for music - specifically music videos.
I don't know what it's like now, I don't get it here. From what I understand though, it's not worth it.

Serves you right for living in a country where your officers are armed.

I've been looking at a tablet. One of the few concrete things I want to be able to do is root it. I bought a NAS on the same principle
After that, decent battery life and Wifi so I can talk to my wireless access point here at home.
