    Actually, they could do it by making you sit through 15, 20, or 30 seconds befor the connection. And actually, doing it that way, you get the ad even if you don't get connected.

    I think this gives an indication that they are clueful, but I don't know much more about their policies.

    I don't know that it means that they are "clueful", maybe they just don't care. I get a huge amount of spam, port scans, and out-right hack attempts from their IP blocks, and they don't seem to really care.

    Free is nice, but the network up-keep has to get paid for. Nothing is every really "free". In Yahoo's VoIP (or any VoIP) I think it will come down to "free" with ads or with a fee...

    Yes, but your local school district doesn't normally recieve mail from those countries, so it's not likly you are dumping any mail by mistake.

    I'm sure all the Chinese, Polish, and Russian spammers are shaking in their boots. For them, there will never be a solution other than IP block banning and similar measures. If you have the time and energy to waste on "dealing" with this group, more power to you, but I'm done even thinking about them.

    It does not seem to be able to cope showing a webpage which has erroneous scripts running on it.

    The standard Slashdot response will be that it isn't FF's problem that web sites don't have valid code or "follow standards". However, that's not the point. The quality of web site code is not something that will ever be perfect, and a browser should fail them gracefully as (yes) IE does. Mozilla Org cannot demand that every web site be perfect, it's just not reasonable.

    I don't think so. 200k is well within the reach of many many Americans (and other nationalities as well). People here spend near that on collections of toys all the time, and at least in Western Washington State, 200k is well below the average price of a 3 bedroom house. People think nothing of financing a $70,000 car, add to that a nice boat, a vacation to some beach or Europe... 200k is peanuts.

    So I am not sure why gripe you have against the US that you feel the need to try and turn everything into a failing of the US "social experiment."

    I think the point the poster is making is that here in the US, violent crime is so common as to be generally un-news worthy, and that the US have a very high violent crime rate. Of course I am not going to quote you numbers, but I'm suggesting that this idea is not arguable.
