Actually, they could do it by making you sit through 15, 20, or 30 seconds befor the connection. And actually, doing it that way, you get the ad even if you don't get connected.
I think this gives an indication that they are clueful, but I don't know much more about their policies.
I don't know that it means that they are "clueful", maybe they just don't care. I get a huge amount of spam, port scans, and out-right hack attempts from their IP blocks, and they don't seem to really care.
Free is nice, but the network up-keep has to get paid for. Nothing is every really "free". In Yahoo's VoIP (or any VoIP) I think it will come down to "free" with ads or with a fee...
It is funny. But those with the mod points are a "touchy" bunch. I think Yahoo is still "good". Snicker, snicker... Oh yeh, I get lost on the Yahoo home page!
Maybe and maybe not. Perhaps they believe that UNIX has run it's course, and are giving Linux the nod? Of course I don't really know what I'm talking about...
If you called yourself "Solaris Inc" and sold Sun equipment, they might have an issue with it. If you said in your advertising "I'm a Solaris specialist" they don't care. You are yet another JACK ASS who either didn't actually read the story, or you are an idiot.
I'm sure all the Chinese, Polish, and Russian spammers are shaking in their boots. For them, there will never be a solution other than IP block banning and similar measures. If you have the time and energy to waste on "dealing" with this group, more power to you, but I'm done even thinking about them.
It does not seem to be able to cope showing a webpage which has erroneous scripts running on it.
The standard Slashdot response will be that it isn't FF's problem that web sites don't have valid code or "follow standards". However, that's not the point. The quality of web site code is not something that will ever be perfect, and a browser should fail them gracefully as (yes) IE does. Mozilla Org cannot demand that every web site be perfect, it's just not reasonable.
This is my point. A trip into space is not going to be your yearly vacation trip, it's a "trip of a lifetime". If you are worth a few million, you can shake free the 200k if you really want to go.
Well, don't try buying a house or car here in Wa state! But sure, not many can pull 200k out of their pockets, but it's not an astronomical number either.
but the $200k pricetag is a cost that break the bank of most everyone
I don't think so. 200k is well within the reach of many many Americans (and other nationalities as well). People here spend near that on collections of toys all the time, and at least in Western Washington State, 200k is well below the average price of a 3 bedroom house. People think nothing of financing a $70,000 car, add to that a nice boat, a vacation to some beach or Europe... 200k is peanuts.
Of course the US says no way no how if its not our way its the highway...
Well, maybe. I always thought it had more to do with the United State's wanting to stay on the High Road of space exploration and scientific research... into military technology (for the benefit of mankind, of course).
Crime happens all over the world and no higher in America than anywhere else
Bull shit. The numbers your questionable web site quote do not discuss various type of crime. The content is also highly racist. I assume you agree with its questioable and offensive conclusions. You must live in the inner-city or the South.
So I am not sure why gripe you have against the US that you feel the need to try and turn everything into a failing of the US "social experiment."
I think the point the poster is making is that here in the US, violent crime is so common as to be generally un-news worthy, and that the US have a very high violent crime rate. Of course I am not going to quote you numbers, but I'm suggesting that this idea is not arguable.

Doesn't seem to be one here in Washington State!
Hmmm, maybe ask Indymedia.

The above post is moderated 20% "offtopic" shows that the mod system is broke. "Offtopic"? Come on!
I'm waiting for the Japanese guy who knows pi to 40,000 digits to memorize the Linux kernel.

Not at all. I just thought I would point out that your post MADE NO SENSE.
If you called yourself "Solaris Inc" and sold Sun equipment, they might have an issue with it. If you said in your advertising "I'm a Solaris specialist" they don't care. You are yet another JACK ASS who either didn't actually read the story, or you are an idiot.
Your post makes no sense, so I assume you didn't actually read the story.
Jack ass. You OBVIOUSLY didn't read the article or if you did, you didn't inderstand it.
Lintralia? Ausinux?
Yes, but your local school district doesn't normally recieve mail from those countries, so it's not likly you are dumping any mail by mistake.

With well over 7 MILLION millionares in the US, I don't see an issue with 200k.
