  1. Wake me up when this becomes a story... on FedEx Cracks Down on Box Furniture, Citing DMCA · · Score: 1

This is a funny story, but really a non-story that will fade quickly. In all likelihood, if this guy had simply ignored the letter, he would not have heard from FedEx again. Companies like FedEx shotgun out this type of stuff and simply wait to see what floats to the top, like chumming the waters. Non-issue, non-story. Move along.

Well, it happens that not everyone is convinced that they should give up as much control as Our Fatherly Leader Richard Stallman thinks they should. That's why many people choose a BSD or MIT style Open Source license. In many ways, the GPL cuts its own throat by not recognizing that not everyone is a diehard socialist. In other words, the GPL has too much ideology in it for some people. Thus, they can maintain some control over their code while allowing others to benefit from its openness, by using a BSD type license. In other news, HP would like Sun and IBM to GPL their intellectual property because HP no longer does R and D...

It's steps like this (by Microsoft and previously Nintendo) that may lead developers to return to the PC development environment.

You're kidding, right? This is nonsense. Third party makers will pay up, and proliferate. There is no shortage of people willing to pay, and they aren't interested in PC games, they want consoles. If you can't afford one you're probably not the market MS is targeting anyway, and will have to wait for second hand equipment on eBay.

I'm sorry, but I simply can't see the point of posting this story on the front page of Slashdot. For example, it contains absolutely no references to cunnilingus. Is this an oversight of the "editors", or is Slashdot just a male-centered web site that will continue to ignore the impact of female sexual response cycle in the field of AI? I think it's safe to assume that the "editors" and the "people" that submit stories that get accepted here clearly do not have hardwood floors, and therefore their opinions should be suspect on the surface. I think it is also clear that Slashdot is well past the plateau stage of the relevance curve, with several 'false peaks' still deluding people into thinking that this web site phenomenon is still a viable cultural asset.

No, it is YOU who misunderstand (although the story is about as stupid as it gets). He is saying it may seem that you are about to peak, but in foact you are still in the plateau.
