OK, so in THIS case patents are BAD because someone else is making bank on this guys IP, but could have been GOOD if this guy had protected his IP, but than he and his patent would be BAD because he would have been making bank on his IP...
Nothing says class, prestige and superior social status like a free webmail AOL address with a name like Jason2354695, because every decent user ID is already taken.
Before this latest gain for the Dems, the Republicans where telling the Dems to quit crying and just give in, that resorting to the courts was proff they where all cry babies. I wonder if their tune will change now.
The programming language used to create Paint.NET is C#, with GDI+ extensions.' It really seems like a nice tool. I definitely prefer its UI to GIMP's.
Heretic. Turn in your Linux / Open Source badge and exit the building. Get out.
I don't really think I want my children reading my exploits on the web as a 14 year old virgin looking for older men who have had sex change operations. Thanks anyway.
There's a lot of scary things here, but to me what is most scary is that American copyright owners can mobilize foreign police to do their bidding.
Did this idea JUST come to you? Because your fav pirate software site goes down, suddenly it's on your radar? You can't get your latest movie or game for free, and NOW you suddenly discover your "rights" are being walked on? You can't steal anymore and now you're pissed? Well guess what? This has been going on for some time.
Slashdot covered the Indymedia bust, but it faded from the headlines because they are just a bunch of Communist news junkies. But God forbid they take your free games and music!
I guess we should feel lucky that at least people are now seeing what is going on with respect to our freedoms, I just find it sad that the thing that brings it to the average Slashdot reader's radar is the loss of stuff they had no rights to anyway.
People who don't know the difference will just pick up a box and expect it to work, and it's not likely that a Wal-Mart employee would know any more than they do about the compatibility.
People are not as stupid as you think, and in many ways smarter than you.
Needle in the haystack issue. Too much communication happens online- certainly they can have boxes report back a copy of all of the traffic from some ISP, or even all of the traffic out of / into an ISP, but to give analysis of that data is not something I'd like to be tasked with.
The goverment owns MANY "beowulf" clusters and such. They have the paranoia and means to find that needle. This IS a big issue because the secret agencies ARE chomping at the bit because they know NOW is the time to ask for funding. MONEY, folks.
I don't think that's legal. You just need to get VERY obnoxious about it. Jump and shout and sputter, say things like "fraud" and "call the police" and "what is WRONG with you" and such. They will give you your money, but you may not be able to go back there again.
I think this "joke" is pretty outdated. Most people who have a clue know the difference between Linux and Windows. Those that don't will have exactly the SAME learning curve picking up OpenOffice and Firefox as MS Office and IE. You do not need to know all about Linux file systems and compiling the kernel to jump right into composing docs with OO, and surfing the web with Mozilla.

I think the answe is "yes".
I work in a flying squadron. Dave Clarks are da bomb. Of course a nice set will set you back $200 to $500 if you pay for them.
Office noise? I'm too busy reading / posting at /. to notice.

1. Don't know why you where modder "flamebait". Pretty right on comment.
2. Nope they can't! But we all know Republicans are knee-jerk.

Monster lists about 600 jobs for "open source", mostly Java. Mostly web content management.
So even if it was "shit hot", because it's written in C# you would pass on it? Pretty shallow if you ask me!
And untill GiMP has 16 bit and color management, it still sucks side by side with PS.

It means that over the last year, Zope and Plone have gained mindshare as open source web application servers.

One 3 too many, and one 7 short of 1337! Work on it. Maybe install Slack or something...
Move along, nothing to see...

i DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, but MY TINFOIL Stocks are solid. I am recomending that everyone stock up on the essentials.
People are not as stupid as you think, and in many ways smarter than you.
Yes it was, and you fucked it all up by taking it seriously. Get a life.

Solitare is on most Linux distros. Typing? Well, that's a good point.
Isn't Fry's a 30 day rental place anyway? Buy it, use it, return it?
Are you suggesting that people who do nothing more than email, web, and wordprocessing will sudenly get an itch for Doom3?
