Worst Product ever. The installer only works on Redhat and Corel linux. It looks like Corel desided not to take the little time to test on the many other popular distos like SuSE, Caldora, Slackware, and others. There are many people out there who have paid $150 for this mocked up buggy windows software, and have to struggle to even get it installed.
After getting it installed. Having to install all the rpms by hand, and figure out the correct oder to avoid dependancy errors. moving the files that where installed in redhat/corel specific places, such as.kdelnks. I find that it cant open most of my Office 2000 documents. It says unknown format. My copy of staroffice 5.1 which is pretty old, has no problems.
Also, the email address on Corels web page linux_install@corel.com must go to/dev/nul.... I wrote an email 2 days ago, and have gotten nothing back, not even an autoresponder.
Thank you corel for raping me. Nice piece of windows crap running under wine. At least I got a 2 inch stuffed tux for my $150.
Im happy that It works for you. Im willing to bet that your running redhat or corel linux. Anyway the point is that If you pay $125 for linux software, they should not send you windows 95 software and an emulator. I didnt pay $125 for seg fault in wp.exe.
I got my copy of Corel Wordperfect Deluxe yesterday, and I have never seen such a big piece of crap for $125.. The installer only works on Corel linux and redhat. Caldora and SuSE and slackware, and others are out of luck. I run SuSE and it took several hours to install all the RPMs in the right order to stop depedency errors, and move everything in there right places. After installing, I figure out that Corel didnt port wordpertect suite, the apps run under wine. Wine is unstable and crashes every 2 minutes. Quatropro is yet to open a document without wine seg faulting. Corel did no reseach and no testing on this. There software is juct as expencive as microsoft junk, and works worse. Im staying on Staroffice
They generaly dont put it on there ftp site for a few weeks after they start selling it. You can buy it on both cdrom and dvd from there webpage. Again it goes back to the point of SuSE trying to force you to pay for there cdroms.
I know that this is getting OT, but I have to agree. I think SuSE is the best distro out there. Its great to have 6 cdroms with every tool known to man, and to have a nice default desktop envirment. But I dont think your parinoid, I have never seen an ftp site slower then SuSE, there free version is very cutdown, and poorly done, and now it looks like there going to time there releases to make people buy multiple copies.
exactly. Why even put these names up for sale? If your going to allow these big companies to just steal the names, why doesnt internic just use sometype of software to compare all posible names with every trademark on the books, and then only sell to the company with the trademark. Or you can take it one step further, and require a trademark to get a domain name.
What the hell is wrong with you. This guy spent his money on the domain before Coca-Cola company did. It is his.... no matter what he intends to do with it. So if Coca-Cola steals it from him and doesnt use it for a while, can I steal it from them? Do I hvae to have a name that sounds like Coke? This is bull, its hims, let Coca-Cola buy it from him if they want it.
Whats with all the hype over this game? Diablo was a good game, but there were and are plently of other good role playing games. Try torment, I just beat it, and it was far better then Diablo ever was.
This game is never going to live upto the hype no matter how good it is.
Copying windows is not all bad. Microsoft did the market research to find out what people like there apps to look like, but couldnt make them work. Linux will just take there nice looking start button, and make it do something other then give a blue screen.
One of the reasons that I like SuSE is that it comes with KDE installed by default. I hope that his statment that they redesigned the desktop in version 6.4 doesnt mean that there switching to Gnome. Nothing against Gnome, but Kde is so much more stable.
well then can you do me a favor and port IE to linux?
Yah.... goto www.eeggs.com there are a ton of them
Duh... I didn't realize at first that it was transcribed from a phone interview. My aplogies Lars.
Nextthing you know Bill Gates will be saying that things like this will be worse if they breakup Microsoft, just like he said about the ILOVEYOU worm
Looks cool, but after about 15minutes, my pilot locked up, and I needed to reboot (paperclip).
Anybody get by the guy with the shotgun on the second level?
Can I play online..... someone host a game.
heres a new arti cle from ZDNET with some aditional details.
OK.... Applixware is very bad, but atleast it trys to open the documents, and at least its native linux code and not crap running under wine.
As far as MS Office, Its good for windows, but there is no linux port, and Im not going to switch OSes for a work processor.

To bad SuSE 6.4 was released last weekend with 2.2.14 . I hope they didnt do that on purpose to try and sell 6.5 in 3 months.
it looks like the Unmaintained Free software project thinks that they have a sence of humor. Lame compared to others today, but a nice try.
Theres no chance of fooling anyone at this point with there record for the day. It looks like Slashdot wants to be theonion for a day.
"if you're using VMware, you're probably loading up a version of Windows anyway."
but why should I have to buy ANOTHER copy of this overpriced product?
You got my point. I was being sarcastic, but I guess im just wasting my breath

There a big company with lots of lawyers, shorely they must have more rights then the rest of us pions.

They only let you download a 1 cd cutdown version

Does Helixcode install any specific window manager, or just install Gnome over whatever your running?
